Just curious to see what you are growing in the different parts of the country?

Here in AZ we have been at it for awhile, as the heat gets so hard on the plants (even with sun shade) that we have to start early.

What are your favorite things to grow?

One of mine is red leaf lettuce. Makes the stuff the super market sells taste like that green stuff you find at the bottom of a swimming pool. LOL :D

    Nice variety Schultzy!

Never tried potatoes before. Does it take a long time before they can be harvested?

Tried broccoli one year and thought it would be a disaster. Most beautiful and tasty broccoli I have ever had.
It was a all organic garden and worked out really well.

Every year. This year we've gotten a late start. All of my tomatos and bell peppers are still in the greenhouse that I built last year. (14'x10') Cantalopes and honeydew melons are in the ground, okra will go in this week, as well as carrots. Onions have been in for several weeks now.
We put 1/2 an acre in this year. Down from 1 acre last year. We also have sunflowers around 75% of the fence line. Thats for the doves come September.
Oh, and I almost forgot the summer squash and zuchinni. It wouldn't be a garden without them!

Potatoes are probably the easiest thing to plant. Were much cooler then you are up here In Minnesota so I won't get my stuff In until this week some time. The potatoes will usually be done by September or so. Actually you can take them much sooner then that If you want them smaller In size. Mine are usually baseball to softball size potatoes.

The first thing I did when we bought our house last year was create a good size garden. Since my parents and neighbors plant a wide variety of things we all share. My job is to take care of the sweet corn since we don't have any deer and minimal raccoons to destroy them. I also plant spinach, leaf lettuce, mesclun mix. I plant a lot of jalepenos, and roma tomatoes for our salsa that my fiancee' lives off of for half the year. I also have 5 flower gardens to keep me busy as well.

I have been saying I'm going to plant a garden for the past few years now, but I still haven't done so yet. Nothing to blame but laziness. I've got a huge flat yard that would be ideal.

YUMMY!! What time is lunch today, tomorrow, the next day and all spring.... ..Txjourneyman and Greg!
    Awesome gardens!!

I never eat enough veggies or fruits, because what the stores sell is quite sad and/or tainted with the pesticide our Govenment banned here in the U.S. and then sold to Mexico. Guess where alot of our veggies come from? LOL

    Red, Idaho?

Ahhh... hello Doug!! It is so good to see you!!!
Thank you for the welcome and kind words!

Me and you can go araidin on some of those scrumptious gardens. :spy: :p SHHHHHH ;)
It could be Scott.... if we play our cards right. :innocent:

(BTW.... we definitely need more smileys if I am going to convey my sneeky ways. :D )

I've heard of neighborhoods that do this! I think it is a wonderful idea. Everyone does their part and gets to enjoy the work, enjoyment AND bounty of it!

Never too late rybo! ;)
