Fishing because I want to have a topo map on the screen where I can see structure and hunting the same concept that I can mark potential spots and start patterning bucks. Any help is appreciated

    Thanks

If you do want a dedicated gps, I have an older garmin oregon. The touch screen is a little tricky to use sometimes, but other than that I have not had any problems with it. I use it for the same thing, bottom structure for fishing and figuring out where to hunt.

I've got a Garmin Oregon 550. The screen is resistive touch, (the other kind of touch screen, not like your phone). But once you get used to it its a great unit. If you want the latest and greatest dedicated unit, that's not Survey quality, go with the Garmin Montanna. Its the successor to the Oregon line.

They even have Camera's built into them, that aren't too bad.

I am a big fan of the Garmin Rino line. I have the 530Hcx and love it. The color screen is great and I love having the two way radio feature built in!

I went with the Garmin Montana and I'm very happy with it. Little bigger screen and two options for batteries. Can also be used for driving with dashboard mount.

Couldn't agree more. Have a garmin handheld and the iPhone with a good app blows it away. Don't need a signal with preloaded maps.Spot on with many varied functions.

I'm going to disagree greatly. I have iPhone with maps loaded and I have a garmin Oregon 450. Ill take my garmin out any day over my iPhone. Battery is one big example an ease of use, more features, and if it dies I have extra AAs in my day pack.

If you can go to a Cabelas or something like that and play with a couple. I like the Garmin 62Sx. The Garmin rino is cool too. I have the Garmin 60Sx and I love it! I mark scrapes, rubs, places I bump deer, Walk trails and mark them, view the topo map in the field and go exactly where I want, use the compass, use the barometer to see if a Low pressure system is moving in and I've even noticed patterns in sign and used my gps to find more. One time I found a rub and marked, found another and marked it. I did this a few times and noticed the rubs followed a contour line on the topo. Followed the contour line the opposite direction and found more sign I would have walked away from. Great tool for scouting. Any questions just shoot me a message.

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday coming up keep your eyes peeled for deals then. It seems GPS units are one of the favorite big sellers by Best Buy, Cabela's, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro, etc.
