I'm looking to buy my first compound bow. Until now I've only owned a crossbow (which I'm likely to sell to help fund the compound). The bow I'm looking at is the Hoyt Charger. There are a few reasons for this. First of all, Hoyt is the only thing that my local bow shop carries. Sure, I could drive to another town and buy one somewhere else, but I'd really like to support the local shop. It's new and I'd like it to hang around a while. Second is because it's 1 of only 2 (from what I saw) that are within the price range of what I'd like to spend on my first bow. The other one they have there is the Prohawk. Not knowing anything about compound bows, I'd like to hear from some of you who do, and who have experience with the Charger. Would it be a good bow for a beginner to use, or should I take a trip and buy something somewhere else? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I shoot it and love it, the awsome part abt that bow is it cpmes with the package so then after u get that its only abt 700 then all u need is arrows, broadheads and a release amd plus its hoyt cant go wrong woth a hoyt
Yeah, he quoted me right at $710 fully set up and ready to hunt. It's right at my price range, so I thought I'd go with that. I've read some good reviews on it, but wanted to get some info from some of you who use it, or have used it. Thanks for the reply.
No problem my only suggestions on this bow is it comes with the tubed peep site i say get a tubless peep they work better and u can get them for like 10 dollars amd just have the archery place put it onfor you but other then that def worth the money kts a good deal
I know the Turbo Charger is the fastest bow Hoyt Makes, at 340 IBO. When i get a new bow, im going to consider it.
Actually the spyder turbo is the 340 fps bow.(unless they added a mid year release to the lineup I'm not aware of) The charger is a fantastic bow, regardless of the price. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
The Hoyt Charger is a good bow. I went to buy one and they had one Hoyt Rampage Xt left so I bought it. I really feel that price point with Hoyt is some of the best and reliable bows made. Don't feel bad that you are only spending 700.00, it will be a good bow.
Good bow. I shoot "other" but all bows are made so close now a days. Good bow, great grip. Best thing to do is go shoot it and start generating an opinion. Regardless of what bow you like prior to shooting, until you shoot them they are all the same. Just another bow on a hanger at the archery shop!!
Had a buddy of mine look at the Charger this morning and he agreed that it would be a great bow to get started with, so it'll probably become my first compound. The next question, I guess, is what kind of arrows are you guys who are already shooting this bow using? My buddy suggested maybe using the Easton Bloodlines, and I may still go with the Maxima Blue Streaks like I'm using with my crossbow, but I'd still like to hear from some of you who are already successfully shooting this bow. My draw will likely be 29" and the poundage will most likely be 70#.
My buddys dad bought a charger from a local radio auction for 250 bucks... and he absolutely loves it!
Well, I had an accident that put 4 stitches in between my thumb and index finger on my left hand so that's put a slight delay on my purchasing of the bow. I get the stitches out on Monday, though, so hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one next week. Thanks for all the replies, y'all. I'll most likely be going with the Charger, though I won't be getting the "package". I'll probably just see what accessories the guy at the archery shop suggests.
