I cant find the G30 for under $1000 and the G20 is 540 on canons refurbished website. I know I would like the 30 more but the savings on the 20 is tempting...

Just wait for the g30 to be in stock at canon... you should be able to pick it up for 831+ tax

I have been mulling over the G30 and G20 for a few weeks now. I will make a decision by the end of the month. I am leaning towards the G30.

To clarify guys - Can you run both the G20 and G30 with a Lanc controller?

The 30 has a wireless controller with it, is that not as good as a LANC?

No not nearly as good. wireless controllers are good for taking pictures from a distance but not for filming. (Because of lag, small buttons, ect) With a lanc you can control on/of, manual focus, zoom, and record on/off. I highly recommend the varizoom stealth with the g30. (Around $120)

I still have to get my hands on a 30 for under 1000 which looks like it is going to be hard

Anyone know if there is a difference in low light quality between the 20 and 30?

I was trying to get one on ebay but went from 700 to 1025 so I checked the canon site, way cheaper than 1025

I have a g20 and love it! The nice thing about both of these cameras are that they are compact!

Ironic, I was the one that bid it up! Then noticed that cannon had them in stock and had to quickly retract my bid. Definitely the better deal!

I also have the 20 and my complaint is the same as others only10x optical zoom. I bought it at campbell cams when it was new out and pd. 1400.00 That said its an awesome cam. My setup is cannon hfg20, vanguard 123 fluid head varizoom rocker lanc controller azden shotgun mike and muddy hunter tree arm. I hunt in new england….Ma. CT. and NY. For A bowhunting setup its awesome. However when trying to film big bucks in the soybeans in western NY. at 500yds. its a little weak. IMG_1078.jpg
