I actually found my bucket on the side of the road a few weeks ago. I just had to stop and pick it up. So I only have ten bucks invested in this setup. Sure is cheaper than my lone wolf setup. I could buy all types of buckets for what I have in the LW stand. :D
Lol....ill have to think about it. I'm actually sitting on my bucket right now and its kind of a PITA, literally. I think I need to upgrade to a better seat.
Get some thick wool or something and drape it over your precious bucket Finch. hahahaha. Maybe you need to rig up a foot rest so you will have more of a Lazy Boy type hunting experience.
Lol...good stuff, Brett. I like the footrest idea. Better yet, I need to figure out a way to get an actual lazy boy in the woods. :D Anyway, I just got back to the house and this morning's hunt was a decent one. Making my way in, I spotted a couple does about 50 yards away. I just plopped the ole trusty bucket down and watched them get out of sight. Stood up and continued on my way and they took off. I knew they couldn't have seen me so I stopped for a minute. Just a few seconds later I see another deer walking behind them. I'm figuring it was a buck of some sort but can't say for sure. They were exactly where I was going to be sitting. Doh! Then I found a majestic rootball. AND this spot is perfect. Its a great pinch point between a thicket and a creek. Wind was in my face and the downwind side of me was blocked by the rootball. I'm confident I can kill a buck in this spot if I put my time in. Here's a pic for your viewing pleasure. A coyote came in (out of range) to my rattling here too.
Finch, NOW you are hunting. You have found the majestic rootball! If you supplement the rootball with the bucket you are unstoppable! LOL
That looks like the perfect spot to build a brush blind wall and cover it with leaves so it looks like a mound.
just realized this ^^^ - Nows a good time for an update from Finch on how he did, now that I just read all the posts!
