Any of you guys into lifting weights? If so, what do you do? More into power lifting or body building? Thanks
I'm into fitness, not so much body building or power lifting. I could not care less about getting "big".
I lift, and I'm into fitness. I enjoy the running, swimming, biking more, and mainly lift for strength training. I have no desire to get big.
I'm into both. Just finished a 1/2 marathon and now it's back to lifting (& cardio) 4-6 times per week. I enjoy free weights and kettlebells. My main purpose is for muscle definition, strength and cardio endurance.
Back In the day I did allot of lifting. Haven't touched a weight In 15 years. I burn wood for heat so all of the wood I split by hand (wedge and a mall) keeps my upper body In not to bad of shape. My arms are paying the price now though (tendinitis In both elbows). I would like too focus more on the fitness part now as I know It would do me good. Last Spring I picked up a mountain bike but didn't use It as much as I should've. Hopefully this next summer I get on that thing more. Kudo's to you all who keep yourself fit. Your families will benefit from It.
My goal when I was younger my goal was to get big and strong for the sports I played year round. My goal now is to keep my heart and lungs strong, along with strengthening my core muscles to keep my metabolism working at a good rate. I don't want to get big anymore, I just want to be toned and have a strong cardiovascular system. I am looking forward to the day that I drop down to my highschool weight of 200 lbs.....just about 6-7 lbs to go!
i used to be into weightlifting quite a bit, until I herniated a disc while squatting... now I stick to cardio fitness and body weight workouts...
I was really big into lifting from when I was in college all the way thru my early 30's. I lifted mostly for strength, but I was also able to stay pretty cut at the same time. It is weird to look back at pictures from my mid to late 20's. I didnt realize how big i was, expecially compared to now. Now I run a ton, and just do body weight exercises for strength.

im getting to the age now where i might back off the heavy stuff and start just working out for fitness, just sucks to think of my body shrinking. maybe i'll wait a few more years and for now keep making those plates SING!
Funny you should say that, I was just thinking about the pics from a photo shoot I did a couple years ago while I worked out this AM! The 1/2 marathon was a focus for me the past couple of months and now it just feels good to get back on the "right" side of the gym again with the free weights I wouldn't say I've forgotten about it, the thought creeps up every now and then.....I need the time and dedication for it, key word being dedication. Perhaps a goal for some time in 2011?!?!
I've been into fitness my whole life. Always had a gym in our home and had my first trainer at 13yo. Was pretty heavy into bodybuilding in my early 20's, as well. Now that I'm back racing motocross, my training is done to compliment the sport. I dont want to be big, just in shape. In the warmer months, I try to mountain bike, daily. We have a 15.6mile loop through a local park, and some other really nice places to ride, not far away. Weight training is pretty much high intensity circle style training. My weight workouts are completed in about 30mins. The only days I dont train, are days that we're racing, practicing or traveling to other States to race or practice. I keep it simple. Stimulate, not annihilate. I eat as clean as I can(although in the winter months I really just do whatever), work out consistently and ride as much as I can. The harder it is to do, the less likely you'll stick with it.
It only took my wife 10 years to commit to doing one. She could never find the right time to dedicate a couple months to it. She finally just picked a comp date knowing she wouldn't back out. I think her main hang up was her shyness, and she wasn't a big fan of heels. It was funny watching her practice around the house!
I do something similar to this, but my "clean" eating struggles during deer season. I try not to do too much damage during that time. Once the season ends Jan 1, I'm pretty consistent again.
