Just trying to see what people are seeing in New Jersey, I hunt in Morris county and can not believe how slow its been the past few days. I just started seeing some small bucks during day light but no shooters yet. I took my vacation from work this week to do some heavy hunting but haven't really seen anything bigger then some spikes and a few 4 points. Let me how the deer have been moving by you...
I hunt in Warren county and we have been seeing way more deer on the roads then in the woods. I shot a 6 pointer in the October season but besides for what i saw on that day we've seen nothing. Here is the video of my hunt.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjgLQXJV9lg
Great video, I went out today seen a real nice 8 point .... when i was sitting on the porch eating my lunch. Watched him come around a small pond and walk right up the trail to the stand I was going to hunt. That as at ten after 12, was in the stand by 1 and sat till dark with out seeing anything but some squirrels. After lowering my bow down and getting out of the stand I heard some leaves rustling so I stayed still for a few min and had 2 does come within about 12 yards of me standing on the ground while I untied my bow. They just walked by like I wasn't even there it was kinda crazy!
Im hunting down here out of Atlantic County in Wharton. I couldn't get out until 7am the other day and only got a glimpse of a doe all day. No luck with rattling or calls. Hopefully ill see something this week before muzzleloader. Even though the rut will be mostly over by the end of the week do you think that the people bringing muzzleloaders out will help move deer around? Also, any of you guys hunt public land?
I only hunt a small farm that my uncle owns, about 20 acres, but it borders a large piece of county land that is open to hunting. I haven't really had any luck with people pushing the deer our way until shotgun season.
