Hey guys I am wondering if any of you hunt small game with your bows. I am asking this because this is probably the first hunting I will take up, do to the fact that Deer season is almost here and Id rather start next year and get more practice. So if anyone hunts small game and has any tips for doing it with a bow that would be great. Thanks
I hunt everything thing with my bow, especially love chasing the rabbits around! Too much fun I tell ya!
Any tips for rabbit hunting like chasing them out??? I heard you really need beagles to do that. Also do you hunt furbearers like raccoons, foxes, coyotes, skunk, etc????
Don't chase out the rabbits... hunt 'em standing (sneak up on 'em!). Woodchucks are a blast to hunt too. I use the G5 SGH for small game - does a great job!
Any tips on locating rabbits in my neck of the woods?? I live in NH by the way or at least terrain they are usually in???
Its fun i took out a ground hog from my house not to long ago it was destroying the yard. It was about a 20 yard shot I used a old broadhead but im going to invest in some G5 Small game heads soon.
I hunt rabbits over here in Aus plenty, take a look at my youtube channel for vids on hunting them, they can be a fairly switched on little critter and getting in past 60 yards can be a task sometimes (thank goodness for the dumb ones lol), due to being small they help you get your eye in for larger game hunting...as well as that i get a feed. Try walking towards them with the sun at your back. Walk softly, they will pick up thuds if your heavy footed. Use a good 3d camo, i use asat and ive had them look right at me (if im still) and are none the wiser. Hunt under spotlight (if its legal in your area). Dont underestimate their nose and walk face into the wind, keep movement and noise down to a minimal and probably one of the biggest things ive learnt on pigs and rabbits is to never come out of a stealthy stalk because you cant see them, walk slow everywhere as you approach and keep glassing up further ahead..i dont know how many times ive come out of a stalk because i couldnt see one with my eyes only to have one take off just a few yards away from me, take your time, hope that helps some
Never to late to start, as they say you miss 100% of the shots you don't take, now is a great time to start. Don't make excuses of being new, jump in start going out reading/researching/walking land etc...
im takin the ol lady out this weekend to try our luck at rabbits with our new bows, it'll be her first time hunting anything ever
