I hit a doe tonight (a bit high) and she "blew" like she smelled me about 10 seconds after she was hit. Anyone had this happen before?

As she was running away she had a good bit of arrow sticking out of her. Trailed her tonight for 100 yards with good blood, backed out and will go back in tomorrow morning.

When I was 12 I hit a buck WAY far back and he made a weird noise - and I never found him.

Haven't misplaced a shot in a long time! This SUCKS!

Any idea why the deer blew? Anyone familiar?

Man, I've never heard a deer blow after getting shot. I've heard them let out sound that's the equivalent of what a human makes when they get punched in the stomach but that's about it. Good luck in the morning!!

Had one blow (rifle kill) about 2 seconds before she fell over. When she blew, alot of blood came out of both sides. Maybe your doe was trying to catch her breath as her cavity filled up from your high lung hit. As Dub said, all you really ever hear is that low groan when it's all over.

    It's happened to me twice.

Once when I was shotgun hunting I shot a doe that ran a few yards and started blowing. Blood was everywhere, and then she fell over.

Last year I shot a nice buck and he ran into the woods a few yards and blew. When I took the trail up the next morning, I found a bunch of blood where he stood doing it. However, after a 6 day search, we never found the big boy.

Hey guys, sorry for now following up quicker.

We trailed for another 200 yards and never found her. After we lost blood, we spread out and searched for her - to no avail.

Tough thing to experience, has not happened to me in a long time. Just goes to show that no matter how much confidence you have, **** happens.

Will be back after 'em this week. BIG bummer though.
