The public is also agreeing with the work of wolves. I suppose it's easy to deny that to save money on compensation.

Sounds about the same as all the years the DNR was saying there are were no Cougars in WI. If it was one steer, I could see it being coyotes, but hard to believe when it is 5 1000lb animals. If there was a pack of them running around that large, there would have been smaller incidents being reported leading up to something like this.

We've had two of the neighbors have new born calves killed by coyotes but never an animal taken down that was that big. Maybe you guys have bigger coyotes there than we do but I have shot two that each weighed in at 58 pounds.

Doesn't sound like the work of a few coyotes and those paw prints are way to big to be coyotes.

We have black angus cow/calf herd and I have personally witnessed cows beat the crap out of 3 coyotes one day. Steers would be no different. I would put every penny I own on it not being coyotes.

It was just a matter of time before this happened. Lying "M"er "F"ers that's all the DNR does anymore they think we're all stupid and will believe anything

USDA is calling the shots on this one. Can't blame the DNR for everything...

    of course they were "coyotes"
USDA would have to pay the rancher if it was wolves.

^ and they would have to admit that wolves are abundant and killing livestock. The coyotes are an easy scapegoat that fits the agenda.

It wasn't hogs cause there wouldn't be anything left but a little hide and a few bones....

Do wolves kill and come back later to eat? Surprised the carcasses seem pretty much intact.

It isn't rocket science to figure out if it was coyotes or wolves that killed those steers and the DNR denying it was wolves doesn't make it so. I'd be challenging that if I was the rancher.
