I was thinking of getting a new range finder. I have a 15+ year old Leupold and the optics are far from good. I was hoping to find one with good enough optics to use at low light & leave the binos at home. Primarily tree stand hunting. In my blinds I can bring the kitchen sink so to speak. I hunt thick woods so never see farther than 100 yards. I know they have small diameter lenses, which lets in less light. I know a smaller magnification (4X or 6X) would also help in low light. I have no need for angle compensating, but wouldn't rule it out. Anyone have a rangefinder with surprisingly good optic clarity and low light capabilities?
I have a Brunton 440 (rebadged Nikon 440) and sometimes I wonder why I even own binos. I rarely get my binos out even in 3D. The only downside is the rangefinder portion isn't worth a crap. It doesn't even give a consistent crappy reading but all I've used for the last 8 yrs or so.
very impressed with my vortex ranger. I still use my bino's because I want a larger field of view, but the image is very clear. To top it off it is backlit, a must for early morning use.
I have been using a Leupold RX750 that was purchased on close out when they upgraded models to the RX800. The glass is good and it has far more bells and whistles than I use in the woods for bowhunting. On occassion I have ranged deer across a big field for the fun of it or just a random object, but the majority of use is picking objects for distance relative to my treestands.
Sig Sauer Kilo 2000. My next range finder. Currently using a Nikon 7i. Good RF but when it goes am going to upgrade to Sig.
