    Talk about some culture shock...lol

I have a 2nd step job interview in Phoneix. I'll be flying out for a tour and a face to face interview.

Looking at the Arizona DNR website, there are plenty of other things to hunt besides just Antelope...including Mule Deer, Elk, Javelina etc....anyone from out that way?

Arizona has all kinds of big game to chase. Elk, Sheep, Bison, Pronghorn, Mule Deer, Coues Deer, Mtn Lion, Javelina, Bear, even have turkey! But it'll be a huge culture shock for you if you aren't used to draw systems. Just cause they are there doesn't mean you can hunt them. You will have to wait out years (sometimes several) for certain species, while others you can hunt annually. Im not sure of the areas around Phoenix, but don't be surprised by the mountains out there.

I will be around Tuscon hunting deer in January, it is more of a desert flats meets mountain foothills area. I personally will be up in the Santa Rita Mountains myself.

The rut out there is in January!

I would move there in a heartbeat personally, then all the western states would be accessible by drive rather than flights.

I'd buy some snake boots. ;) I've been to Mesa a few times, had family that lived there. The summers were way too hot for me.

I was in Tucson for a couple weeks, and I ain't going back. No trees for a climbing stand out there. Alot of heat, sand, coyotes, just what I don't like.

Thanks Tembry and Jeff, it's definetly on the fringes of what we'd consider. (We love Vegas but we get to come home afterwards)! I'll go out for the interview, hopefully it all goes well and the offer, makes the decision easy..(one way or the other).

Does that mean you'd have to enter a Coues buck into next years BH.com deer contest instead of an OHIO SLAMMER?

...don't let that factor into your decision:)

LOL well the "Ohio Slammer" is still up for grabs... But by the looks of things I would stand a pretty good chance at the biggest contest entry form my new state... :)

Bob getting a tag is next to impossible unless you pay the natives to hunt reservation land,
I have both friends and family there and they do more camping than hunting.

Good luck with the job, not in a mold shop is it?

Not sure if your home state offers it or not, but buy a lifetime hunting license before/if you move. Makes it nice to always be able to hunt on the cheap when you go home. Proud to have my Illinois and Kansas licenses!
