I want to become more self sufficient. I'm looking at fletching jigs and was wondering what brand you guys use? I'm pretty sure I need one that off sets the fletching to give it the right spin.
I bought a jig to fletch a few months ago to start fletching. I tried to just use a 5 Min Plastic Epoxy but it didn't work well. I have tried the NAP QuikFletches though and now my jig is for sale.
ok I'm looking at them now. Should I get a left wing, right wing, or straight, I'm a right handed shooter and I want a 'twist' to my vains. 2 dozen easton fmj's just arrived at my house, I'm very excited about fletching them myself I'll probably end up getting a cutter to cut them and tip them as well
I have a Bohning jig. I use 4" duravanes, and I use a straight clamp which I offset 3-4 degrees to give a right hand spin.
Bitzenburger with the straight and right helical clamp. Usually fletch with the straight set at as high an offset I can on the Blazers and still get good adhesion
I bought the bitzenburger also and fletched my first arrow last week with the straight clamp at a slight offset (2" Blazers). Arrow flies true. I can see practice will make perfect, especially with glue application and setting offset.
I have a Blitzenburg that I was straight fletching but have moved to the Arizona Mini-EZ Fletch with a Right Helical. Pretty easy and sweet to use. Blitzenburg is a rock solid fletching jig and hasn't changes much for decades.
Personally I have both the right and straight clamps. If only one though, I'd probably go with the right clamp.
I have used NAP QuikFletch on my arrows that last few years and have been very satisfied with the results.
Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money up front and get a Bitz... I've got a straight clamp and right helical, but only use the right helical even when fletching the shorter, stiffer-profile vanes on my father's arrows.
The Jo-Jan has worked well for me for over 25 years. I hear great things about the Bitz. but I can't picture it being worth that much more money. For a bit more I can get a JoJan multifletcher and fletch 6 arrows at a time. Using Rt. helical clamps, wraps, Blazers and Fletch-Tite platinum glue I can fletch a dozen arrows in about 3/4 hour. I did 4 dozen the other night after work.
I have a Bitzenburger with only the straight but I can turn move the angle enough so that I get a nice lil' twist on her. I did alot of looking around for a fletching jig and the only one that I could find with no negative comments was the Bitzenburger. Best choice and it is very easy to use. Perfect fletch every time. Never had one fall off. I use loctite super gel with no issues at all.
I looked at all of them but i decided to go with the bitz. this is what i got, I know I still need the arrow cutter but to much money for right now. I think I got at least enough stuff to start fletching when it arrives Product # Description Qty.
