I've been thinking about this for a while... and since the construction industry as somewhat flatlined, I can't think of a much better time. Being single, I've been fortunate enough to save some money and I've got an itch to explore. I'm thinking about renting out my house, loading up the truck with my camping, hunting, and fishing gear and hittin' the road. I don't really have any ties and think this may be the only opportunity I'll have to do this...

Anyone else ever thought about or done this? It's an idea I've had for a while and right now, I can't kick it.

All's I'm gonna say is.......head my way we'll catch some crappie or something......Maybe some carp if conditions are right....If yer here this fall we'll go whack a doe or something......

I would love to be able to take a hiatus.....Love to! With the 2 girls at home though, it's just not an option. But if it were.........U can bet I would.

I'm like Mobow with kids and a wife at home it isn't in the cards for me now, but man if I was in your situation and had the funds. Heck yeah I would do it.

If it was something I was able to do, I would do it in a heartbeat. But with a wife and kids, its not possible.

    :hail: if you do it.

I'm getting married in three weeks, so unless it's a two week hiatus, it won't be happening for me:D Go for it, though. You only live once.

If my life were a little different now, I would definately consider it. Like others have eluded to, having a wife, a son and another one on the way changes everything.

I say, if you can afford it....do it. You'll never regret it.

And, if you're so inclined, get your passport and head north of the border....loads of walleye waiting to be caught, on me.

Guys, I appreciate it... I'm strongly considering it. If/when it happens, I'm sure that I'll meet quite a few faces from here which is pretty exciting for me as well.

Dan, I sent of my passport stuff last week and expedited the processing  I'd be down for catching some glow eyes :D

Been doing it for 2 years. Problem is, I always end up at home. LOL For example, in 12 days I'll be in Alaska for 10 days. But I'm coming home. I just have too many toys to load enough of them in the truck at one time to be effective. I take some and leave. I come home and exchange them. Life is good. The last of our little fish get stocked next weekend.... end of any type of responsibilities. LOL

You know you're welcome here if you make a roadtrip of it... you could catch Mobow, jmbuckhunter and me all with one little swing as we're just an hour and a half apart... I've got a full guest suite downstairs you could stay in for a week or so sometime and doe tags are cheap (I hear buck tags are still available too if you were inclined to splurge... :) )

As far as doing it? If I didn't have a wife and kids? I'd be all over it!! You may never have another chance this good...

lol, we could get twice as far as one of us could on our own :D I learned how to live on shoe strings a while back. Why don't you just put an arrow through Freak Daddy on day 1 and we'll do it.

I've already began looking for a truck and topper (I don't think the company will allow me to move on and take their tuck) :D

Since my girlfriend of 4.5 years broke up with me i thought of going on a couple week adventure out on Colorado or something to get away from it all, I just don't have the funds to do it on a bass pro salary.

I would love to but as a single dad it just can't happen! If you end up going and find yourself passing through Chicagoland let me know!

Give me a hollar when you pass thru the St. Louis area. We could find something to chase around here. And there is a Cabelas 15 minutes from my house, in case you need to restock.:d

I am with the others. If you can afford it do it! I would be in Idaho or Montana hunting every thing there is to hunt and fishing every thing there is to fish.
If you swing through New York (no good reason to)we have plenty of room to put you up for a night or two.
