Has anyone looked into or actually drain tiled their plots? Farmers will do it to really help with handling heavy rains without flooding. I have some poorly drained clay soils and wondered if anyone actually has done it for a food plot.

I don't know anyone who has but I could see where it certainly could work. As long as it's done right anyways LOL!!

Never known anyone to do it for a non paying food plot. On the other hand I will be doing it next year lol. I have a broken field tile in my plot right now that you could lose the front end of a pickup in from the erosion. The other tile next to it is broken as well and doesn't let water drain over a small knoll towards the creek so it puddles up in the low spot between my house and this knoll. I'm sure it'll cost me $$$$

It would be easy to do. Rent a walk behind DitchWitch and buy some drain tile. Just make sure you have the right elevation in the lines so they drain out.

I've never done drain tile but i do have to put some sort of drainage in my food plot this year. My plot is at the end of a ravine with a creek in it that only flows with run off so i have to divert the water around my plot.

I wish this field was tiled. This is what i found Monday. Many of the fields on the farm are now tiled but a couple smaller one's used for food plots are not.
