I'd like to take my sight, rest, etc off my '06 Tribute but I can't. It feels as if the screws are ceased up in the riser. I've even broken an allen wrench trying to get my sight off. I've already tried spraying PB Blaster on it (opposite side of screw head where hole goes completely thru riser). What else can I do?

LOL and I use Lok Tight. To each their own. JB 80 its twice as good. When they first break loose soak em down again and work them back and forth. Be patient so ya dont boogger the threads up.

Thanks guys....I'll try the Kano but I'm a little skeptical only because of the PB blaster not working....it usually does the trick on everything else.

Kodiak...when I bought my newest bow I used anti-seize when installing the accessories. I hope its doing its job.

If the above method doesn't work...what are my other options? Heat?

Donnie, you might try to heat your riser up just a tad with a hair dryer to expand it around the screws. Kroil is good stuff as Kodiac mentioned ;)

Dan, if the Kroil doesn't work then I'll try the hairdryer trick. Thanks!

Kroil is by far the best penetrating oil out there. If it doesn't work. You can try heating it. But I doubt you want to put the amount of heat on your riser that it should take to break it loose.
    Last resort...the drill!
If you use a drill see if you can find a left hand twist drill. I have seen them take out bolts I thought were hopeless. Oh and make sure you use one that is smaller than the tap drill size for the bolt you're taking out. And be very careful.

Yeah, but you don't live in a rainforest surrounded by salt water...

If there's one thing I know from gunsmithing here, it's how to free frozen parts. I've taken off 100 year old rifle barrels with some Kroil and a little persuasion. It's really amazing stuff. You're not going to be able to heat the riser enough to do anything without damaging the finish. It's counter intuitive but you're better off heating the bolt with a torch. When it cools it'll come out but you've got to get it pretty hot and that aluminum riser is going to act like a big heat sink. If the Kroil doesn't work you're down to drilling them out. Typically you just have to drill the head off (carefully using a bit just slightly smaller than the diameter of the screw head) and grab the remaining thread with a vice grip and it'll spin right out. I've never had one that I've had to completely redrill and tap. The left handed drill bit is a great tool if you have access to a machine tool distributor.

OK...definitely going to give the Kroil a try. Dan, I actually have a heat gun (somewhere). :) I'll let you guys know if I need to drill it out. I hope it won't come down to that though.

Rob you are right about the salt in the air, but I do own a excavating company and trust me I know about rusted or frozen bolts. Finch I doubt very seriously you are going to affect anything heat wise with a blow drier. Expecially Aluminum. Soak it down good, let it set over night. Use a hammer and a punch if needed. Give it a real good rap. Try to break it loose if it does soak it and work it back and forth. It will come.

How about a screw extractor as a last resort?

I found a good deal on Kano's website. You get a free can of Aerokroil with any other purchase. So I bought the $7 bottle and I'm getting a free aerosol can. Good deal!

Actually this just might do the trick, you would have to put some good padding under your riser first but I wouldnt hit to hard. impact drivers are great!!

They say its the best. Go to this link and place your order. I bought the cheapest item $7 and they will give you a free can of Aerokroil. Best deal I could find since no one near me carries this stuff.
