Out here in Utah, I had to pay $45 for a 4 hour class and $45 for the ccw card. Took a couple weeks to get the card after the class was done. The awesome thing is that out here, you can carry just about anywhere. Pretty much only government buildings ban carrying. (our local government building does not forbid it) You don't need a permit to open carry and it's not unusual to see people with a pistol on their hip. Even walking into the bank. I haven't seen a no gun sign on any private building yet. Public schools don't even forbid ccw out here. Suck it Illinois.
Well, at least we still have a deer herd! Errrr, wait........ Yeah, Illinois sucks!! Good thing is I may be in a position to move out of this wretched state in the next few years. :fingerscrossed:
The USCCA commented that every gun owner and manufacturer should leave the state. Due to HB4715. I doubt that bill will gain traction. But if it does, the land of SUCK will sink to a whole new level.
Rumor has it the general assembly is burned out on gun debates, so it's likely we won't see much more than trailer bills passed to clean up some of the mess created when writing an umpteen page bill in a matter of a few days. What will be interesting is the SCOTUS is set to announce early next week whether they are going to hear multiple 2nd amendment gun cases. Depending on which ones they choose, if any, it may have a big impact in how the gun grabbers go about their approach.
Just saw on news they mailed out the first batch of permits today. So be looking in mail if you applied early. Guess haveta get on filling mine out.
Anyone get theirs yet? I'm number 47,xxx and still under review.......my best guess is another month or so. I submitted everything with prints on 2/8.
I submitted mine a few days after you and still I'm under review. Talked to Charlie and he received his last week and was under review up until they mailed it.
I really got to get signed up for the classes. Was planning to get it done right away but been so busy. Raceway where did you take it at?
Luckily I live in Texas were they are passed out like candy. Hope y'all get them soon. Glad to see there is a lot of people applying for them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I work with a guy who recieved his last week. his son also recieved his in. I made him show it to me just to prove it actually does exist and sure enough they are real!
All the folks that I know that put in for the CCW at the beginning now have them in hand. That's good. On a FYI note. I just read that you cannot carry a concealed firearm on you while you are hunting in IL. That bites. You big, tough dudes probably haven't had any issues.. but I've run across some of the scariest characters while I've been way out in the woods. Alone.
IFOR newsletter. (Illinois Federation of Outdoor Resources) Let me go find it. That was my last newsletter, I'm not renewing... so after this, you guys will need to find out your own state info.
CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT QUESTIONS & ANSWERS RELATED TO HUNTING IN ILLINOIS The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) reminds Illinois Concealed Carry Permit holders that they must comply with current wildlife code laws and regulations while hunting in Illinois. Below are some common questions and answers to help guide Concealed Carry Permit holders who hunt on or utilize IDNR properties 1) May a person possessing a valid Illinois Concealed Carry Permit carry a concealed firearm when deer or turkey hunting? Under the current regulations, Concealed Carry Permit holders are not allowed to possess any firearm, including a concealed firearm, when deer or turkey hunting unless the firearm carried is legal for taking the species being hunted. For example, an archery deer hunter would not be able to carry any firearm, whether concealed or not, when archery deer hunting. However, if a concealed carry permit holder is hunting deer during the legal “firearm” deer seasons, he/she may carry a concealed firearm, but only if that firearm is of the legal type for firearm deer hunting. The specifications for legal deer hunting handguns can be found on page 17 of the 2013-2014 Illinois Digest of Hunting and Trapping Regulations at the following link; Hunting : Hunting and Trapping Digests 2) May an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit holder, who is training or running hunting dogs during the period when the hunting season is closed, carry a concealed firearm? No. No person in any dog training party, during any period in which it is unlawful to take such species being pursued (closed hunting season) shall be in possession of a firearm, including a concealed firearm, unless such firearm is a pistol capable of firing only blank cartridges. In addition, no person in the dog training party shall be in possession of live ammunition. 3) May an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit holder be in possession of a concealed firearm when hunting any species, with the exception of questions 1 and 2 above? Yes. With the exception of deer, turkey, or dog training as explained in questions 1 and 2 above, an Illinois Concealed Carry Permit holder may possess a concealed firearm on their person or in their motor vehicle while in the field hunting any species of wildlife, unless the Concealed Carry Permit holder is in one of the prohibited areas listed in the Illinois Concealed Carry Act. Wow. NY is pretty overbearing with the permit restrictions but IL is definitely worse. I'm just going to stay out of Cook County, not go into any establishments with no guns signs, stay off public transportation, stay away from the "festivals", and make sure I don't print when carrying. Not sure what else you can do beyond all this to stay compliant.
What if you already pack s gun while hunting? Ha. I haven't even sent off for mine yet actually. Took the class awhile ago just haven't got around to it.
Yea, it's always been that way. With permits now, it would be nice if they changed that law, but I doubt it.
There's already a bunch of changes being discussed in the spring session of IL house and senate. Some are trying to make it better but a lot to make it worse too. Time will tell but its gonna be a continuing fight.
This is true, but these are all ILDNR regulations, not laws. These could be changed by the DNR at any time. I'm sure it is being worked on, but also sure the DNR is a little ticked about the bill working its way through the State House to make them actually comply with the 4th Amendment. Might be a little much to ask them to comply with the 2nd as well.
