Did a couple card pulls on camera's this weekend. The two camera's are several miles apart in 2 different hunting spots. Have several pics on both cameras of deer sparring and even one of my "hit list bucks" chasing a doe. The picture of him chasing was even at 11 am, which before this weekend he was never seen past 7-730 in the morning or late at night. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing any changes in deer activity yet?
That's awesome you're seeing that kind of action already! It's still premature to talk about "chasing" in Kansas, but I've seen some sparring and have new young bucks entering the farm. That tells me territories are being defined and scrapes and rubs should be popping up anytime now if they aren't already.
Nothing big yet but starting to see more bucks on my camera. Was getting spike a small 3's and 4's but was ojtthe other day when I got my doe and had a 5 pointer under me and then today a small 6 on my Bushnell trail camera.
Still waiting for the daytime temps to drop here in SW Ohio, nothing is moving in the deep woods where I'm at. They are all fattening up for the rut and winter in the plots right now.
That's awesome! It gets me excited just lookin at the pics. While in my stand yesterday evening a little buck walked all around me gruntin and struttin his stuff and come to find out there were 3 doe down over the hill from my stand. I jumped them when I was on my way out after dark. One almost took me out as she ran right in front of me. Not 5 yards from me.
My brother watched two bucks way out across a field yesterday going at it. He said they were fighting only slightly less than the rut; slammin heads together and chasin each other around. Probably had more to do with the slight cool front that came in than anything else. Just feelin their oats.
They will usually spar this time of the year not normally chasing does but it does happen with the frisky ones
I would need to change if I had a buck like this walk by my stand. You have some real nice deer in your area. Around here the deer I see don't get that big antler-wise, but they get pretty fat.
Yes, seeing the same thing here in my part of KS and MO. Have seen beans smashed down from fights and seen bucks chasing does in my cameras as of last week.
