I would be better off just throwing the ball. I have tried it but I just cant get the ball to go straight. I got to the point where I was actually turning my body to try to make up for the hook or slice (I still dont know the difference) but that still didnt help. So I pretty much gave up.
believe it or not, often, tu0rning your body to compensate makes the problem worse... imho, the best money that can be spent in golf is not for better clubs or balls, but on lessons... anyone who says otherwise is just completely full of of S###... some of the best golfers i know still take a couple private lessons each year just to keep their swing clean...
You're going to wait until September to get out there?!? I can't afford to go to a course right now, so I go out into the front yard and hit the balls to the pole barn and then down to the far side of the dam. At this rate, I'll be out of golf balls by Memorial Day.
I love golf as much as anything, been playing is as long as i can remember. I usually dont have enough time to get out as much as I want, but this year ive proabably been out twice a week. I started out rough but im getting into the 80's should be low 80's in a few weeks. I can hit a 75 on a good day...
Thanks GMMAT. If I stay in good shape and health, when I get about 45 yrs old I'll see where I am in life and what I can do. I figure I can get back to competition level in 4-5 yrs (maybe less ?) of HARD work...maybe??
Obviously you have a history that GMMAT's familiar with, but I'd still think it'd be a HUGE stretch for someone to not play and then just gas it up and expect to make the Senior Tour. I know guys who've tried..I also see many a touring pro make the switch and not find it so easy. I wish ya luck..and think your gonna need it!
Most important...GMMAT, thank you. I have never met you but in reading your posts/replies and "reading in between" your posts/replies, I believe you are a class act through and through. I do hope one day we'll meet even if it's just at the DD Classic in Raleigh On to Mr. "Great Attitude". You sir know nothing of me, my background, my talent/ability or lack thereof so I am surprised somewhat of your "blind" statements concerning anything I may or may not do or attempt. I do not carelessly throw words at the computer screen w/o first thinking through what I am saying and what will result in me saying it. I completely stand behind my saying that "if the situation presents itself" a 5 yr. plan can result in my return to playing for a living. When I left college my coach told me that my 5 yr goal should be playing in The Masters in 5 yrs. Well that wasn't my goal and obviously I didn't:d You may not be completely wrong in saying that it may be a huge stretch but the stretch would be in that I will have the 1. Desire, Drive, Determination and Dedication that it will take to get back to it. 2. Enough money aside to be able to return to the mindset of Eating,Sleeping, Breathing,Drinking golf all day every day because THAT is what it takes. 3. Being able to re-gain Titleist/Footjoy Worldwide and Ping as my equipment sponsors. These items may be a stretch but the ability to put the ball in the hole would not be a "huge stretch". And I do not consider a 5 yr plan as "gassing it up" in my situation. But you are right in needing a little luck because sometimes just one break is all you need. You might want to be a little more careful before you jump on someones post/reply or you could be thought of as "Badatta2d" instead. Back to you GMMAT...Thanks for the "good lucks" you sent my way :d
I said nothing negative to you as a person. I didn't question your abilities or your desire. I simply said it's a tough road, especially for someone who is not currently playing. Someone mentioned David Duval..a perfect case of having "it" all the way to number 1 in the world.. and then losing "it". When I truly do, "jump" on your post you'll have no doubt as to what Atta2d I bring.
Gr8...If you did not intend for your post to belittle, scoff or make light of my possible plans then I sincerely send out an apology to you for my reaction. I honestly took "HUGE stretch" and "gas it up" as a personal "post" jab and felt I needed to defend myself. I have seen alot of people on sites get jumped on when they put something out there that they feel sincere about but maybe doesn't sit right with someone else or someone else just doesn't agree with. I have no problem owning up to a mistake when I make one and I guess I did here. If you're good then I'm good and let's get back to something really important like Bows and Deer :d
I used to play a lot with MO_Bowhnter until I started working. Now I play maybe 5 times a year or so. I just bought a Nike 5900 Sasquatch driver the other day, and am hitting it really well. My girlfriend bought a set of clubs and is learning how to play too. It should be interesting taking her.
Other than it being cool to swat things with clubs...I have no desire to ever take up golf. I've never played anything more than a round of par 3 as a teenager. As long as there is a body of water with a fish swimming around in it, I don't see me ever playing golf. I don't get. BUT I am impressed by the talent from those who are good at golfing.
Yup... I play. I'm anywhere from terrible to promising. My idea of promising probably won't be what you shooting 74 thinks is promising. I love the game. One great shot out of my butt makes up for all the terrible ones. You're right, it's glorious country we golf in. The scenery, the weather, the short skirts and a beer afterward.... or in between. It doesn't matter. We have fun our way. It sure as hell beats the hell out of planting a food plot.
Yes Sir, a par 3 course with holes ranging from 174 yards to 84 yards. Junk everywhere, but well placed and picturesque! This is a gem of a course, with a capital D I F F I C U L T! I think it's the most difficult green on the course, if you can hit it! It's about 50 feet wide and it swoops uphill about 35 yards with a left to right trickle... Water in front to within 80 yards of the green, water on the right of the green and two deep sand traps to the left. The course record is 24 by a few area pro's. My best round there was 29, but finished up this "hole in 1 round" with a 32. Ouch, considering I was 3 under going into the 5th hole!!! WTF! I was dizzy after the shot and followed it up with a 7 and then a 6, before regaining my composure with a few more pars to end the day. Golf is just another four letter word, and the other 4 letter words were already taken! If I could replay this round, I would have taken 5 minutes to relax, as there was no one behind us. Oh-well, maybe next time?? Ya-sure!
