So who's still out there? I haven't carried a bow afield in over a month, and now I'm really feeling a strong desire to get out there and fill my remaining doe tag. I've been extremely fortunate this year with 2x bucks and a doe in the freezer, and because of that I've taken a bit of time off from hunting to spend time with family/friends, but the desire to get out there is really strong again right now. I think I'm going to try and hit it hard at my camp the next few weekends before the fat lady sings, or I fill that remaining tag, whatever comes first. Hopefully I'll get to share some good hunts with friends as well over the next few weeks.

While NY is done for the year, the PA late season opens the day after x-mas and goes through 1/10. I've got a 1.5 acre turnip plot that hasn't been touched since Matt saw the world record groundhog the second weekend of PA's early archery season. My father indicates that there are 10+ deer in it every night, and when I was there 2 weeks ago I hiked down to just check it out, and they were already hammering this plot. It's the only green food source right now for quite a ways, and it's directly next to a sanctuary area that hasn't been touched since last March, one of the heaviest used bedding areas on the property. I also have a ground blind that has been sitting on the edge of this plot all brushed in for months now, so if I can get lucky with a north wind, I plan to make that 10" of fresh powder crimson this weekend.

    So who's still out there?

I'm still out there but not nearly as hard as earlier in the season. I am going about it pretty leisurely now. I thought about bowhunting yesterday but I opted to go try and find a few birds and watch the dog work. It was a good choice between 3 of us we got 15 quail. It was an awesome day.

Not yet Matt but maby on the last day. The tag i still carry can be used on either sex but im still waiting on a buck that meets my standards. The last day i just may wax a slick head. I have a spot where three Nany's had came through both times i hunted it and one is a giant. I may be there the last day and try for her if i do no good on the buck.

I'm hunting anything that walks by at this point. We've already put a serious dent in the 4 deer in the freezer, I'd like to kill 3 more for jerky and burger. 2 growing boys and me can put away some venison. :D

I never got the chance to hunt does this year. I was planning on doing some doe hunting after Christmas on the family land here in WI, but am headed back to Saskatchewan on Friday.

If it weren't for finals and all my selfish family members who expect me to come up with Christmas presents for them, I'd have been out several more days, but yeah, I'm still after a slick head. Me hungry, me want eat.

If I knew what I do now I would not have shot 2 already.
They also have a holiday gun season starting today until Jan 4th.

I have two 3B tags left. I plan on filling at least one of them. I am still looking for a buck, but with only one in the freezer right now, I ain't holding anything back. I also have off from now until Jan 5. I will be hunting/cutting the rest of my firewood. Sooooo, yes I be nannywacking.

I am heading back out Friday morning. I have patterned a few does that are passing at first light in front of a tree house. I have never shot one from a treehouse and I'm excited at the opportunity.

I've been hunting when the weather allows. With close to 2" of rain expected, I may not hit it again until next Monday when the weather is supposed to get better. I've passed on several does late cause I have been seeing a couple of nice bucks, just can't close the deal on them. I think its time to use my other doe tag at first chance.

Im about the same at this point, but Ive had 4 does that have been coming into my food plot behind the house i havent been going back there much lately because at the begining of the season they all had little ones with them and wanted to give them some time but i think its about time to go ahead and take one or two, besides it'll give me a chance to break in my new bow.

I think I am done nanny whacking. I have butched too many deer this year. I am only after bucks now. Or nothing at all.
