That they worry about putting on a deer ?

This will be my 39 year of deer hunting and it seem like I've spent the last 15 of it trying to put my older brother on deer . I've gave him my best stands and told him when to sit in them , I've sat with him and called in some good bucks just to hear an excuse as to why he couldn't shoot , and he finally had a breakout season last year .

He ended up shooting 5 doe and a dang good buck with his bow last year ...... of coarse most from one of my stands . It was great to finally see him have a great season , he was due after 39 years of hunting . He's 1 year older than me and got to start hunting one year before me .

The problem I'm having now , is how to or should I cut him loose . I've already given him my best chance at an early season buck this year and hope to get a call tonight for help dragging him out . IDK seems like cutting him loose has been on my mind here lately but every time I see him , I just can't bring myself to do it . It's not like it really hurts mine or my kids chances at a buck as I have a lot of stands and there are a lot of deer around .

Anyone else been here and what did you do ?

my advice, dont cut him loose. Enjoy it. Its about having fun with family and friends. I would rather my brother got a deer than myself. These are your best moments, dont lose out it. You might regret it.

Maybe "cutting him loose" wasn't the right way to phrase it . We do share a couple of properties and he will always get advice from me ..... it's not like I'm disowning him or anything , we do a lot of hunting and fishing together .

I've worked with him for the last 15 years on getting some deer shot with his bow . Over those 15 years I had discovered that his main problems were 1 - a fear of heights (I put up nothing but ladder stands with full platforms and shooting rails after that discovery ....... 21 of them ain't cheap) 2 - drawing in the presence of a dear (he always thought that when a deer stepped out , he couldn't move to get in position for the shot) and he crossed that hurdle last year . I did have to reign him in a bit , 5 doe from 1 farm was too much :)

Now I find myself contemplating putting up a couple of hang on stands (cause those are what I've always preferred and the spots are not suited for ladders) . I guess in a way I would be cutting him out of those spots but not so much cutting him loose . I would feel kind of guilty about it .... so how would I explain it , is more of what I'm wondering if others have gone through .

    Thanks !!
