Some people will never understand the sport and will always have to down those who enjoy it. I played soccer for a small high school so I am used to people putting the sport down. It took me 4 years for people to respect the sport and we started having big crowds show up my senior year. Great time.

 

I know how you feel man. I was sooo small in HS the only sports I was any good at were wrestling and soccer.

 

This isn't a debate thread. It's a thread discussing the World Cup. I find NASCAR to be absurdly moronic. But I don't go in the NASCAR threads hating on it constantly. I just stay out of them.

 

You have learned from only that agree with you, that has not served you well. It has given you cause to declare yourself a god and act as if you are a moderator. Listen this is all in good fun just relax and discuss, defend your viewpoint and don't be hurt by a differing opinion

Thank you I appreciate that, but then use your vast knowledge of the sport to defend it, your posts on the topic have not reflected an in depth understanding of the sport, just dismissal of any thing critical of the tournament

That is so typical of a current soccer fan you dismiss anyone critical of the sport, and that is why you do not find acceptance because you dismiss a differing opinion thinking the sport is so above it all.

I don't care for soccer, but I'm not putting down people who do. I love baseball and some of the things people criticize about it are what I find enjoyable.

Other than something like the World Cup, I don't see it ever becoming big here until they figure out a way to have commercial breaks. And you don't want to break away from the game for commercials. What if the only goal in the game occurs during a Miller Lite commercial? And replays just aren't the same.
