This may seem weird but i am really allergic to deer, when i clean a deer i get horrible hives, from the back of my hands to my neck and face, mostly from my hands touching the deer and then to any where i touch from there, sneezing

do deer have dander like cats, I can take two allergy pills and make it thru the deal but have to take them about a hour before i clean one.

so i guess i must like to deer hunt if i know how ill it's going to make me.

    how about you guys???

    Yep.

Gettin' worse and worse every year. I've had to go to using those elbow-length "guttin' gloves" offered through Primos, among others.

Was giving a couple does a ride home in the back of the Grand Cherokee last year and about halfway home started sneezing my head off; took a minute to remember what was going on, but that was it...

What really sucks is messing with a bobcat... My favorite animal to target in trapping, and I am absolutely ECSTATIC when I catch one -- until I start skinning it. Same thing... gotta make sure I stop and wash my hands a bunch during the process...

They can develop over time. My brother can't even touch my yellow lab because of the oil in it's coat.

Yep, I am. I don't break out but my eyes start itching and I sneeze a lot. It's funny because dogs and cats don't bother me at all.

I am. The severity differs from time to time. I think a lot depends on how my allergies to other sutff are at that moment. Runny nose & some itchiness are about at bad as it gets. However, one time we went to the zoo & they had live deer in the petting zoo...That almost sent me to the hospital. Eyes swelled shut, nose ran like I've never seen & it got tough to breath. I made it to a store & got some allergy meds and things started clearing up.

i do :) the hair and dander messes me all up. i try to limit any contact with the hair that i can, also take lots of drugs which help sometimes. same thing with cats, but for some reason dogs don't bother me, good thing too because i love my mutt

LOL, that makes two of your buddy's that are!!!
Only when cleaning it, if I get any of the tallow on my hands/forearms it looks like hive city. Been getting worse over the years.
Never thought of it much. Just annoying on the ride home in the truck.
    Cheers

I've always thought I was allergic to deer blood, anywhere I would have blood on my It would itch and break out, Im not so sure if it's the blood or if the blood gives the dander a place to "stick" to, either way I'm allergic... Usually have to wash really good and puff the inhaler a time or two.

I'm not, but a buddy of mine is big time! It's always pretty funny watching him gut a deer though. He has the shoulder length gloves, Tyvek suit and respirator lmao.!!!! Looks like he's going to go spray some lethal fungicides or something.
