    Well Several Goals were met.

Not the least of which was my goal to take 2 Doe and a Nice Buck.

Those that have known me over the years know I've never been a "Doe Hunter" per~say. I've taken 2 in my 30+ years of hunting, my first was at 13 with a flintlock and I took one several years ago with a bow.

I just wasn't brought up shooting doe. Last year my family really took a liking to the venison off my buck and we ate it pretty quickly. They requested more deer to make it through the year. I set my Goal at 2 doe and a nice buck. I've completed that goal.

I learned a lot "doe" hunting in the early season. I perhaps also developed a taste for the kill, the beauty of a well placed shot, I may have been missing this aspect, with only filling 1 tag a year.

As for the buck, I took a nice Buck off public land that I scored at 125 4/8. My taxidermist said I missed it on the LOW side, and he will rescore it. (I hope he's right! :D) He also looked at the teeth and said it was a 4-1/2 year old buck. Now, that never mattered to me in the least (age), and it still doesn't, but so many of you seem to hold age, in such high regard I found his comment interesting.

I still have PA Gun season coming up after Thanksgiving, and I'm really looking forward to that! Those of you with Deer Camp experience know how special that week can be.

In hindsight it's been a great year.

Lot's of really good firsts and goals met. That's awsome!

This being the first season I've bow hunted I set my goal to take a doe. I took one two weeks ago and it was a great feeling.

I downed my first bow deer and it just happened to also be my first buck ever. It was a really nice 8 point (see my pics) and will probably score in the 130s. Pretty good for my first buck! Lord knows I've been waiting long enough for him (12 years of bow hunting and many misses). Last year I shot a real nice buck, but he got away...blood trail went dead. I also shot my first turkey on only my second turkey hunt ever last spring.

First time ever shooting a compound bow
First time ever climbing in a tree stand
First time ever worrying about not smelling badly for an animal
First time ever drawing on a deer (but still no kills)
First time my wife had really given me grief about a hobby (and I have had some freaking doozies)
First time I ever enjoyed sitting in the rain for more the four hours with nothing to show for it

Sure there are more...that I am forgetting

My 1st wasn't a good 1st- Wounded my 1st deer In 24 years of bowhunting on October 19th.

On a side note this other 1st I'm about to mention Is because of some help I got from Troy (Shed). I finally got bucks to visit my mock scrapes, I was going at It wrong In previous years. Thanks much Troy!! :)

This year has been a great year for me. I shot two does in mid october. I shot a 125" 8 point the last week of october, my first buck in 5 years! I also shot my first boone and crockett a week later! I have seen tons of deer and rattled in both bucks. Its been an awsome year, so far. Only bad thing is, can't shoot any more bucks, and rut is just getting in full swing. Gonna start carrying a video camera with me, to at least film anymore big boys that come by. Use to take one with me all the time, until it cost me a buck several years back.

This is an update to my other post. Shot my first 100 + inch buck this morning. I am one happy archery hunter!
