Try writing a hit country song. It's much harder than you think.

On to your rap music. I grew up listening to everything. Rap was my choice of music for years. Until they started talking about their bowling ball paint jobs and magic sticks. When rap was real talk, I listened. 2Pac, Biggie Smalls and Dr. Dre were all lyricist that told a story. Now it's talking about rolling up to the scene with their ceiling missin. Really? You can say that crap is music bro!

I am disappointed in music period these days. Most all of it sucks! Nobody writes all their own music in any genre. That's just how it is. The day of the artist is over. Welcome to the world of the performer.

I like pretty much any kind of music but country is my favorite. I dont like all new country but Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore and Jason Aldean are the top big name country singers that I like. You should check out Blackberry Smoke, I saw them live one time and I have been hooked ever since. They really kill it!

I like all kinds of music. I have just recently started listening to country and I really like some of it. I like Blake, Miranda, Gary Allen, etc. I love classic rock, rock, metal, alternative. The only music I really don't like is rap, and the poppy Bieber crap. Gives me a headache and makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Why would anyone care that you like rap...are any other type of music?

Hunting and music are two completely separate subjects are they not?

That said...I do hate rap ;)

Country... You have to filter through... My first thought before I even clicked was Jamey Johnson... But you mentioned him. Not much good out there honestly. I like the Band Perry alot, maybe because I'm slightly in love with Kimberly Perry. Better Dig Two, is a freakin awesome tune... I could listen to that song with no lyrics all day, That Banjo is sick. I like to think of Country as Chris Young, Josh Turner, Brantly Gilbert, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, although I know some of their stuff classifies as the "Competing to be More Country Genre", I enjoy listening to them.

But with all that said... Old Toby keith, Blake Shelton, George Straight, Alabama, Garth Brooks, those were the days.

haha like i said, the message or topics might not be the best, but the rhyming, metaphors and similies and word play is so sick in most current rap. I love that about it.

Im pretty sure I could do real good in writing country music. Played around with it a little bit. Grew up rapping (stop laughing) so slowing it down and shortening it is a lot easier to me personally. I just have nothing to do with a song once I write it, dont know any singers and I sure as heck cant sing, so havent been motivated to write.

haha believe it or not many country folk dont like the "type" of people who rap or like rap. I used to fish a lot of tournaments and because I dressed funny and talked different, it took me for ever to earn the others respect. The younger generation looked past it, but the older ones help it against me. Wasnt till they talked to me and seen my grandfather raised me a pretty good man that they set our differences aside and focused on fishing again. It was rough at first, and will be rough when I get back into it and have new faces tryin to learn me, but I wont be someone Im not just to make them happy. Hunters tend to be the same as fishing, thats why I said dont shun me lol. I like to think Im kinda liked on here, didnt want a strike on my record lol.

I have been started listening to country music five years ago at least.what made me start liking it actually was the fact country music is no longer country music its like rock with country twist...I never liked country music before hand...I would have listend to metalica nirvana green day offspring and ect. But now as of late I have been getting sick of country since the songs are getting over played and im definitely getting sick of taylor swift songs...thats my opion...

I'm really into the new zac brown band and Brantley Gilbert albums, but that's about it. I do agree with Justin that it seems like everyone in the country music Industry is in a giant "I'm more country than you are" pissing contest. There can only be so many songs about mud, ticks, and beer before it gets overly redundant.

On that note I've phased back into classic rock; led zeppelin, old Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Boston to name a few

Agreed. I've listened to all of them today, plus a ton of Eric Church, Kenny Chesney and Chis Cagle... I even played Brad Paisley's "Southern Comfort Zone" 3-4 times, and I'm a northerner!

Just as Justin pointed out that bands seem to try to "out-country" each other, seems popular for some of you guys to the same; see who's more old school (eg. country) than the other guy.... it's cute ;)

They're pretty good but I would say they are closer to southern rock than country. Which I like. Atleast with the examples you showed.

Doesn't get any better than Allman Brothers band. Of course skynard and marshal tucker are up there too.

I am also into guitar rock like srv and clapton. Love that style.

Guess I am just old. I like alot of the old stuff. I even listened to original rap, before it was known as gangster rap.
