I haven't seen my stub yet, we'll get them mid month. I read that all this panic over the fiscal cliff that even with whatever measures they passed, most people were still going to see a significant hit to thier overall take home pay. I don't care what they call it, or where it's ear marked, the amount of taxes they take out is absurd and unjustifyable. I'll expect my "raise" to be completely wiped out & then some.

But w/o SS ppl would have to save their own money!!!! That doesn't make any sense when you can just have someone else pay for your retirement.

I agree with those who said the temporary tax cut should never have happened, this thread is proof of that.

I agree with you 100%. But the fact is it is in place and must be funded. I would just assume there be no SS. If the govt would refund my contributions and tell me I am on my own that would be great. It was never meant to serve as a retirement, just a supplement from what I understand..I wouls also like to see SSDI separate from SS if it is not already. Nothing burns me more than knowing that these cheese ****s( not all but enough of them) are sucking the system dry so that when alot of us get of age to collect it will be gone.

What is interesting is the money guys are saying that cut hurt the SS fund more than GW's idea to privatize some of SS.

Is this SS tax weighted by age? Not much of a difference in my check.

I believe everyone pays the same percentage, the less you make the less that gets deducted i believe, and after a certain amount it caps at a maximum.

    You high roller

What is funny is now the tax rates are the same before Obama took office. Unless you're a high roller and make 400,000 grand or more.

Agree with the others, they should have never cut the ss tax. That was about as stupid as all the other crap they've done. Like that extra $15-20 a week the avg worker got in their paycheck was gonna get the economy back on the right track. Might have upped Anheiser Busch's stock, thats about it. They are Morons. They need to cut SPENDING, but amazingly...they won't even address it. I fear they will wait too long before any real reform takes place, and they might already have.

Your company just started wage freezes this year? We are going on year 5 of wage freezes plus lay offs every year. I need to get out of here.

Our paystubs finally came out. I net $5 less per pay check (bi-monthly) despite getting a $75 per pay raise.
God I really hate the government.

I havefive contracts waiting for me to sign off on them, the avg increases in insurance premiums are just over 21% ......when people start seeing the Obama Care increases that start hitting them...watch out you haven't seen nothing yet.
