Tim Herald was on a hunt in Africa when his group was charged by a cape buffalo. Tim accidentally shot his professional hunter with a 458 mag. Scary stuff.

Heres a clip of last nights show, but it didn't show the accident.

He survived but a year later is still having a lot of problems with his arm. The bullet appeared to enter his back and exit his left arm.

I saw the advertisement for it. They portrayed it as a lion attack. Maybe i'll catch a rerun.

They were lion hunting at the time. They only played the sound, then showed the video after he was shot.

Any charges against the shooter? I only saw the previews where they made it look like a lion got him.

I'm not sure about that. I think I would have to give up hunting if that were me. Accident or not, that would be in my head everytime I picked up a weapon.

That would ensure you never did it again. As tempting as it is to just react to things, you ALWAYS need to stop and think. Thinking stuff through usually saves people instead of hurting them.

Tim is actually my cousin and he notified friends and family after the accident happened. I have not spoke much to him about the situation as I am not sure how to approach that conversation. I know that they have a fund set up for Stuart as he is still struggling a year later. Its a terrible accident and I am sure each hunt this situation is always in the back of his mind. They are taking donations at https://www.conservationforce.org/donateonline.html.
