Some time in the next month or two, I want to pick up a new camcorder to tape all my son's karate tournaments so we can come back and study the fights... Looking for something just under $500 or so, ad preferably I'd like it to record in HD. Any thoughts on the best bang for my buck out there?
I bought one last year with the help of Mr.Poorman. I'm new to these things and don't know much about them so I asked Rob to help me. Mines a Sony Handycam DCR HC52. I used It some last year while bear hunting In hopes of filming myself shooting a bear. Gotta see a bear 1st though. I think mine takes excellent video but then again I haven't looked at too many other camcorder video's either. Talk to Rob I'd say. Mine was right around 500.00 when said and done. Mine came as a kit. Otherwise I think these go for right around 350.00 or so just for the camcorder.

I was going to suggest the same site. I picked up mine with a package deal (extra battery, tripod, case and memory card) I think I paid 450.00 for all of it.
