I don't know what happened this weekend but I havent seen a buck since last weekend. I took today off to regroup and focus again, trying to figure out what what move to make next. Normally I would see a few bucks during daylight, but I haven't even seen the normal 1 1/2 year olds. I know they are still out there, the doe I shot yesterday was definitely being chased prior to me shooting her. Some had predicted that it would be a long and slow drawn out rut this year with the rutting moon coming so late, wondering now if this isn't the case. I've got 7 straight days to make something happen, may need them all from the looks of it.
We actually saw alot of action yesterday evening. We saw 5 bucks 130" or better. I just couldn't get any of the 3 that I saw off the does they were chasing and close enough for a shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went out yesterday morning. Froze. Saw no deer. None. Went out in the afternoon and had hikers out on the trails all around me from 2:30pm to 5:30pm .... all talking, laughing and screaming at the top of their lungs. Not surprisingly, I saw zero deer. My only real entertainment was watching a diseased raccoon stumbling around and walking into stuff. (and I felt sorry for him). Today is work and homework day so no hunting for me until tomorrow. However my buddy Louie killed two bucks at the same property I hunt this morning.
Keep your head up. This time of year can be very all or nothing. I had a terrible weekend (5 does 1 scrub buck) and my buddy, less than a mile away, had deer all over him this weekend, including a 150" 12 we've been chasing. One hot die can change it all
im in south champaign county and no one saw anything movin at all. i saw one small buck right at dark last night and he wasnt interested in any calling. i was on a field edge with a doe decoy, and ive seen lots of deer in the area this year. hopefully next weekend!! im getting tired of saying that!
Same here, I saw a lot of does, with no bucks behind them. Maybe this weekend it will be on? I have tons of scrapes and big rubs, but haven't seen him yet. Good Luck this week and weekend! Eric
24 hours until I get to spend the next 5 days in the woods. Step dad had a real nice one come in on him this morning but didnt offer a shot and he headed down the trail that leads directly....to....my.....stand. Go figure, the day I'm not out there.
