My Thermacell died the other night and the mosquitos bit right through my thin pants, shirt and headnet pretty good. Looking for other ways to help keep the bugs off and came across this product. Says it's orderless. http://www.google.com/search?client...gc.r_pw.&fp=c2f762ec932a2648&biw=1275&bih=898
I use the Sawyer brand spray and its as advertised for ticks. Not sure about other bugs as we don't have a big issue with them by October. It is oderless and you simply spray it on your clothing and let it dry. They say all over the can to NOT spray on skin as I guess its pretty nasty stuff in that regards. Have used it the past two seasons and I have found 3 ticks on me, all dead.
Have used it for years for ticks. Apply only to fabric, lasts thru a couple washings so it says but I re-spray every time I enter the woods. Have never ever found a tick on me or my cloths. As far as mosquitos and such the Thermacell is what I use but find it cumbersome so I am trying the Off Clip On tomorrow but the Thermacell will be close by just in case.
I had hundreds of ticks on me this spring. People have suggested using Permethrin but I guess the people here in Wis don't know what it is because I can't find it anywhere. Now I just need to find something to get rid of those deer flies!

I have used it a lot and it seems to work well for mosquitoes as well as ticks. Last year, we had a ten day elk trip. I wore treated clothes all of the trip except for one day when I wore a different shirt. I got eaten alive on my arms and shoulders and couldn't believe how bad the bugs were that day. My son was with me and he didn't get a single bite.... When we got back to camp, I realized that shirt had not been treated since I don't wear it very often. Wore treated clothes for the rest of the trip and no more bites.
Very cool I bought the Sawyers spray and soak. Do I need to worry about the soak clogging the charchol lining in a scent suit. I got so chewed up they call me mosquito bait now.
Permethrin is a synthetic chemical that mimics pyrethrum which is made from chrysanthemums. Chysanthemums are toxic to bugs and the compound pyrethrum that they make from it deteriorates in sunlight, so they made their own synthetics that don't. Allethrin, the chemical found in both the ThermaCell and Off Clip-Ons is just another pyrethrum synthetic. The only big difference between the clothes sprays and the handheld devices is their delivery systems. Both are kill on contact for bugs.
Yes it will. I hunt early season with an ASAT 3D suit. I spray Repel Permanone on my shoes, socks, gloves, pants, shirt, 3D suit and head net/face mask. It not only keeps the ticks AND chiggers off but mosquitoes can't stand to even land on the treated fabric. The only glitch is the open area of the face mask, but I carry a small pump spray bottle of un-scented Off for that. Once that's done, life is good even with mosquitoes all around.
