I bought a package deal with my Vendetta. The sights, stabilizer, wrist sling, and quiver work fine (I take my quiver off at the stand). The wrist sling and stabilizers are cheap, but suffice. The rest works, but it's not awesome, and it'll probably get replaced after the season (I used the package rest for 2 seasons). So out of everything, the only thing I'm wanting to replace is the rest. Add up the cost of similar quality items for the sling, stabilizer, sights, and quiver. See what that cost brings you to and compare. You can spend a lot of money, or very little. I will say this, if I could splurge a bit on one item, it would be the bow.
I shoot a PSE Bow Madness XS, and I love it. I bought it at cabelas two years ago it was the package deal. However, I did change the sights.
I shoot the Evo and my son has the Bow Madness and we both love them. My Evo was the bare bow but my sons came with a sight and WB rest. We did change out the rest to a TR revolution but the sight is still on and has worked fine so far. I don't think you will be disappointed with that bow and as was stated earlier, you can always upgrade the accessories over time.
I shoot a PSE Pro series Triton. Bow is about six years old but got new strings for it this year. I have never had problems with it. I have never had to move my pins in six years either. Every fall its ready to rock. I don't think you can go wrong with anything anybody above has mentioned. Happy Hunting.
I have the PSE Nova and it is awesome. Shoots very smooth. Thinking about upgrading to the PSE Dream Season Evo. My friend has the PSE Bow Madness XS. He also loves it. They are very good bows and shoot great. Best brand on the market from my opinion.
I shoot the bow madness and my son shoots the bow madness xs. I got a great deal on archery talk on both bows.
I don't shoot a PSE, so i can't comment on the bow itself. However, I can't really see anything wrong with a package deal just to get you started. The accessories may not be the absolute top of the line, but in this instance it's the bow you're mainly interested in. If it's a good, solid shooter you can always upgrade accessories later. And believe me, if you get into it, you will! I'm on my third sight, second quiver, and fourth or fifth stabilizer. always finding stuff I like a little bit better. Are you able to shoot the bow? I would highly recommend that to see how it feels to you. And, if you decide to buy, please make sure to get the proper draw length for you.
I shot a PSE bowmadness XS last year as my starter bow. Loved it! For the price I think it beats what the other companies have to offer at that level in my opinion. I'd steer clear of the ready to hunt package since all the accessories it comes with aren't of the best quality. get on eagle archery.com and deck your new PSE out with some decent accessories and I think you'll be much happier. I Saw the bowmadness XS in skullworks camo on the cabelas bargain cave 25-30" draw, 60-70 lb model for 399$. A buddy of mine just ordered it last week, and at that price I'm wondering why I didnt too.
Browse trough this see if you can find a good deal. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/search.php?searchid=17201628
I just bought the 2011 modle of the vendetta xs last spring. I got a buck with it on its first outing. I purchased the bare bow for 500 new at a pro shop. If you are just getting a bow now i would look at getting a 2012 pro series on sale. This bow is super fast and very easy to shoot from a treestand. It is only 29.5 ata. I am 6'2 and the bow performs flawlessly. I was worried about it jumping all over the place but it barely moves when you touch the trigger. Here are a few pic of it. Don't mind my dinky buck. I just had a son and was on a very strict time limit this year. LOL
I just can't bring myself to spend $500 on a bow. Wont the stinger at $200 less do just as well? I'm in the market next year. I'm going PSE I think. I just can't stand these bows for $800.00 that's highway robbery.
It will do the job but if you shoot one of the pro series bow you will feel the great difference in the way the bow absorbs the shock. Also the speed increase is dramatic. Trust me my last bow was a 2005 pse venom and i just upgraded now. It took a lot for me to spend that much. I had to sell my weatherby pump shotgun and put money towards it. I made the sacrifice and will not complain once about it. These new bows are amazing with their performance. I believe i will have this bow for a long time. IF you are making the investment to have a bow for more than 6 years like i do wouldnt you want the best you can get. I mean my dad uses a buckmaster from walmart he bout 5 years ago at walmar for 100 bucks and still harvests deer. Its all in what you want but my bow is something i do not go to cheap on.
His bow before the walmart special was a bear whitetail. I will say this though. That little buck had the arrow blow through him and his air expire before he even moved. 315 fps is amazing and they go even faster. My arrow is about 400grain.
http://www.cabelas.com/product/PSE-...t=bowmadness&WTz_l=Header;Search-All+Products Buy this, today. Yes, a higher priced bow will make a difference. Shoot the $299 bow, then this bow. See if you can hear and feel a difference. A $299 bow will work, no doubt, but the bow I linked you will enjoy shooting. This is $100 more than the bow you're looking at, with the current sale price. Buy it, and thank the guy who mentioned it later. Outfit it with cheap accessories, and consider it a great deal (because it is). Also, just a perk, but the skullworks camo is badass.
I have mine on low wattage (pounds), and it still sends them out like lightning. Not just fast, they're affordable, and have a legacy of quality products.
I bought the PSE Marauder package from cabelas magazine back in I think 2001 or 02. I think I paid say 350 for it give or take. I really liked my bow for many years but I never liked the package. Rightaway I ended up using a different sight and didn't use the stabilizer. It didn't come with a rest and the peep sight was way to small for me and didn't shoot with a peep anyway. Well the only thing I actually used was the quiver. To this day I still use the quiver on my Mission Venture (hopefully going to upgrade next year). Overall the bow was a good buy but the package was bogus. If I could do it all over again I would buy only the bow and add on all my accessories that I pick and choose for myself.
