im very serious about buying the PSE stinger from bass pro. The package deal is $400 and all the people in the store say that for the money you cant get anything better.. I was just wondering if anyone on here shoots one of these, or any kind of PSE, and how well they shoot. Thanks in advance guys!
I bought the Stinger to get into bowhunting. And its a great bow now im sure there are better but for the price it is one of the better ones out there. So i dont think you will be upset with the purchase. Now in a couple years or when i get some money im going out and shooting every bow i can when i buy a new one. Sent from my HTC Hero S
I shoot an older PSE. Kill deer just fine, like most bows. You want a solid back wall. A long valley. Good let off, and smooth draw cycle. Go shoot one. Look for these things. if it offers them all and you like the way it feels. Buy it. I think it is a good deal at that price but that is just my opinion.
i have shot a bear, hoyt, martin, and pse. i currently have a pse vendetta and love it, when i bought the bow i went to the archery shop shot a z7, and a hoyt maxxis, then my bow. they where all around the same speed and smoth drawing. but when it came to price pse had a way better price range, honestly i am so pleased with my bow i dont think i will buy any other brand again. I will be seeling my set up at the end of season to buy the new DNA
I shoot a PSE Bow Madness XS, love it. If you do decide to go with a brand new bow, stay away from the package deals. I have never heard good things about the accessories PSE bows come with.
I personally wouldnt buy the package deals unless I was in love with the extras. Typically, its not the rest, sights, quiver, etc... that I really want, so I end up spending more buying replacements. Just something to consider.
I shoot the vendetta xs, one of the more affordable in their pro series line, and love it. My buddy shoots a bowmadness xs and loves it. He was not happy with the lower end pse bows he shot, I didn't shoot the lower end ones so can't comment. He got his bowmadness complete for around $600, I'd suggest that if you were on a budget.
I think I just saw the Bow Madness XS on sale at Cabela's, I would look there first. I got mine on sale for $400, bare bow.
Thanks guys! and yeah the stinger at basspro comes in break up infinity or skullworks. I know yall say that it will be better to go with the bare bow but would it be cheaper to get the package for 400 or just buy all the accesories seperate?? that the only problem im having..
If you buy the accessories on sale, it might be cheaper. Just depends on what price you get for a bare bow. you would need a peep, nock, rest, quiver, stabilizer, wrist sling, arrows, broadheads, limbsavers...to name the main things. It's not a cheap hobby. Gun hunting is cheaper. Shotgun and slugs...lol
I started with the Bow madness xs and now shoot an Evo. My future wife shoots a super short and her dad and brother shoot the omen. Her dad is a PSE dealer so I love PSE. Great bows
I shoot the BowMadness and love it. Bought my Dad a Stinger package last year - I highly recommend it for getting into bowhunting. He was still shooting a 20 yr old PSE with steel cables...he now loves the Stinger and can't believe how smooth, fast, accurate it is for the $. Personally - I highly recommend the PSE package. Whisker Biscuit rest is perfect for anyone, especially a new hunter. Their sights are simple, solid, and bright pines. Quiver does the job, especially for those that like the quick release to take quiver off. If you buy bare bow - you will spend considerably more $ to get rest/sight/quiver. Good Luck and Have fun!
the price for the bare bow is $300. Its already got a peep sight on it though! But no nock, stabilizer, rest, or quiver... thats why im kinda leaning towards the package deal for $100 more! but the guys above say that the things that comewith the package arent too good.
I would go with the packaged deal unless you have everything else you need already picked out. You will spend more buying them seperate. PSE packages come with everything you need and aren't junk
Well, I'm sure they are not top of the line accessories. But if you want to get going into bowhunting, and that's your budget, they will work just fine. you can always upgrade one or two things a year as you save up. I shoot a bow that was manufactured in 2003. That's 9 years old. It kills deer just fine. So will a new "package" bow. But you do need to shoot a couple bows to make a well informed decision. Good luck!
If i could i would go back and by the bare bow. Everything that came with the package got switched out right away anyways because i either didnt like it or it just wasnt what i was looking for. So from now on i will be buying bare bow , just know what your getting and how you plan to use it. if you happy with the things that come with it then get it!
Last year I bought the same packaged deal and I'm loving the thing. I don't paticularly love the stabalizer, and I had purchased a true glow sight for my older bow the season before, so I added it to the PSE stinger. I love the bow and kill a doe the first time in the woods with it. for the money it's a great deal. If you had any of the accesseries at home that you could just use for now to get through the season then i would buy the bare bow and spend the $100 on arrow's and broadheads, or a nice sight.
I should point out I have no personal experience with the package deal. However, before I bought the Bow Madness XS I did a ton of research on different bow models and read reviews from all over the internet (Gander Mountain, Cabela's, Bass Pro) and they all came to the same conclusion, the packaged deals are junk. Most guys said in the long run they ended up losing money because they were replacing accessories after one season. Your call though, one thing is for sure and that is the bare bow is great.
My Bowmadness xs was a package deal I bought used from a guy that hadn't replaced any accesories. The only thing I changed on it after having it a year was switching from a whisker biscuit to an octane rest and only because the whisker biscuit had gotten worn out from shooting it so much. In hindsight I wish I would have just put a new whisker biscuit on it because I liked it bettter than the octane.
