Where I hunt I have a lot of old rock walls marking old property lines I have found that I can funnel deer through openings in the walls and stop them from going through certain ones by building up the wall. Does any body else do things like this?

I've used sweaty gym clothes to push deer or keep them from crossing fences.

I mow parts of my pasture and trim the trees up to discourage a travel path to the food plot and leave brush and hinge cut in other areas.

I put Giorgio Armani in my Tink's Scrape Dripper year round and during hunting season I am able to hunt in my office attire.

Brushing areas, trimming and cutting trees and small plantings. Other than that, no.

Cut shooting lanes is about all I do, I am, however, hunting other people's property and do not want to anger the owner.
Where in CT are you? I grew up in Franklin until I left for the Army in 2001, graduated from Norwich Tech.

I have been known to drop a tree down over a trail I would prefer the deer not to use and clean up some trails I would like them to use. I have not gotten heavy into it though. My buddy just hinge cut a huge area, tilled paths and made bedding areas over this winter/spring. It will be interesting to see the results. The deer were already using the beds he made within just a few days.

I've manipulated barbed wire fences many times to get them to jump over where I want them to.

Only trimming when needed, and food plots planted and mineral sites.

I've used zip ties to make some sections just a bit easier to cross.

I set up manikins wearing stinky clothes on trails that I don't want deer to use.

I do "cut my hunts" quite regularly.

That is, I cut trails and fall trees in opportune places and deer tend to comply and will follow the prescribed cuts. Sometimes it will take a year before the trails become active but they usually will work.

I tend to set up on natural trails and pinch points if I can get them to work. However, the lack of suitable trees for stands (relatively young growth) forces me to hinge cut a little. Where I hunt the trails tend to run everywhere, so I end up leaving a lot to chance. But I usually spend 40 or so days on stand if I need it. So it's not as necessary to try to bend my luck.

That's funny, my dad lives in Ledyard on Center Groton rd. I come up about once a year, that's about all I can stand. I miss the food and that's about it. Where I grew up I was surrounded by 500+ acres of fields/woods, never hunted at all, I wish I still had that area now. Small world.

I have cut large trees down to change the way a deer travels. I have also learned that clearing a path, 3-6 feet wide, will attract some deer to follow it. Deer, in most cases, will follow the path of least resistance.
