Man what crazy weather we're having across the upper midwest. Any of you Iowa or Wiconsin guys tuffing it out today? I think you would have to be sitting in a tank to keep it on the ground in this wind. I think the deer are probably curled up in a ball somewhere anyhow.:D
Nope. Shoveling and working on the computer. Was excited to go out this weekend....until I found out it was a 4 day doe only gun hunt!
I love this stuff! I'm still sick so I'm not going out, but if you know where there is some good thermal cover near a food source the hunting can be great.
well im not on the couch..but soon willl be after work... Ill hit it up right after this weather passes in a day ..or so... 55 mph winds....rain/sleet/snow...expecting 1 to 2 inches of snow... theses winds are RE****
I have NO desire to be in a tree today The snow missed us in southern Indiana but the wind is vishous <<spelling and its coooold!! I got a phone call from INDAWOODS Hank today from Wisconsin. He said the snow is deep and more comming kudos to those than brave it out How bad are you getting it John where your at?
Parts of Mn got over a foot. We didn't get as much snow as they did In southern Mn but the wind Is blowing In excess of 30 to 40 mph. We got blizzard conditions going on here. Like TeeJay said, 50 some below windchill also. My ass Isn't going anywhere either today. Tomorrow morning though the wind should be way down and I'll be out In the below zero temps.
Steve I caught a glimpse of the one I missed in October. They moved all day yesterday. Kind of weird seeing deer again. You sure it is going to be decent tomorow. May have to find some daycare for ol Mr. Mom.:D
Not as bad here as others have it crick. We mostly got rain for precip last night. But the wind is howling at 40 MPH and the temp is in the teens and falling fast. A few flurries flying sideways. Windchill is below zero.
I wanted to head out in the morning on the backside of the low but this weekend is a stupid doe only hunt that starts tomorrow I'm not sitting in -10 for a doe
I should of stayed home. I actually didn't get to cold until I settled into a thicket along a field edge for the last 30 minutes of light. The stalking however didn't go so great. Right after I started sneaking through a creek bottom, I heard something walking that sounded like a deer. It was getting closer and I ranged a spot in the creek where a path crossed. 27 yards and I got ready.....it was a group of turkeys and I have no turkey tags I finally got up high where a steep ridge would keep the deer out of the strong prevailing winds. However the deer didn't think like I did. I was able to spot 2 does moving on a ridge but way to far for any kind of shot. Good news is I found a nice rub line that went into a small thicket. I didn't venture in there, but I'm willing to bet I find a spot where a buck is bedding.
I went out but the deer had more sense than me and stayed put with all the wind. I wish I could hunt tomorrow, its gonna be rockin when the wind dies down.
Luckily, I didn't have a blizzard up here in Ohio, but we did have horrible wind. Nope, not hunting in it either.
I would have if all the highways weren't closed around Iowa and North MO. I'll be at it this weekend though.
