Just curious, always wondered if it might be easier with a bow that way, since you could stick one to the ground lol.
3 years ago I shot a tom out of a tree stand with a shotgun. The under brush was so thick I couldn't see 20 yards. Sent using Tapatalk!
Not sure if i would be the best to shoot from a tree, when all puffed up it may be hard to find center of mass.
In my opinion, its MUCH harder to get away with the movement required to draw your bow in the tree. Turkeys will pick you off much easier in a trees-stand than they will from the ground. Keep in mind that some of their worst predators (hawks, eagles, owls) pick them off from above. They are always looking up and suspicious of "blobs" in trees. I have killed over a dozen gobblers from the ground with a bow and only one from a tree.
This is my thought as well. Stick with the ground for best results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I shot one this fall out of the tree stand while bow hunting. I got busted by the same group a week before tho.
Really tough out of a tree stand. I'd say you would have better luck on the ground without a blind. Last year I had a group bust me and I never moved. I honestly think the could see my orange ascents on my bow!
Id say tough i seen some while deer hunting thru really thick and went to grab my camera and they seen me a mile away and took off
pretty sure in AL it's illegal to shoot a turkey from an elevated platform. dunno about other states. with that being said, id soon just stick to the ground. lot easier to sit still and you can use a ground blind.
In my opinion, there are times for ground hunting and tree stand hunting for turkeys. Most situations I would pick ground hunting, it seems to be easier, but there are definitely situation where I like my tree stand. On my property, there is a little field then a 200 yards long by 50 yards wide strip of pine trees and on the other side of the pines is a really nasty marsh. With the field haveing no food, and refusing to go into that marsh, they have to walk through the pines to get across the street to where all the good food is; where I hunt most of the time. This is the only place I use my tree stand. The reason, my shoulders are wider than the pines in this area, and they definitely more freaked out my my outline on the ground than the tree. I have killed probably 4 or 5 out of there with no issues, and my cousin who hunts with me has probably kill a dozen out of there.
