For the first time in my life I feel that technology may be passing me by. I think I officially became an old man after reading this. It is interesting though.

Nobody else finds it fascinating that most people can only get to 20% of the internet?

Anyone made in Silk Road purchases?

I find it hard to believe there is 5 times the information on the internet that is hidden. I can find out pretty much anything on the internet. And there is 5 times the information?

Most of it is just unusable data, but people hide stuff within that data. Stuff that cannot be tracked. Scary stuff...

Then I don't find it interesting I can only find 20% of what is on the internet. I would rather have 100% usuable data of 20% than 1% (or whatever) usuable of 80%.

I do find this deep web interesting. I don't find the amount of information hidden as interesting.

I'm sure our government has been operating in this realm for a long time. Hence that that browser was developed by the Navy.

I like the idea of Tor. I feel like the deep web is like an uptapped resource that the majority of ppl wouldn't know what to do with.

When I was in high school me and my friends dabbled in the virus writing, hacking realm.

It is a double edged sword though. Tons of potential for good. Tons of potential for bad.

Sat through a presentation about it at the Ky prosecutors conference yesterday. Learned some interesting things about it. Don't ever plan on going there. I'll leave that up to the cyber crimes folks...

Fascinating. I've never heard of this before, is this TOR browser legal to have? If so, I'd love to check it out.

    no

I'm entirely too scared. I've read too many stories of people just checking it out, then a webcam will pop up with some guy on the other end talking about their bank account, SS#, etc. The deep web is for more computer literate people than myself.

    Very interesting, and scary.

If the TOR browser is supposed to be that secure and anonymous, how would someone be able to tell who you are? If some hacker can follow you around, so can the government. Kind of defeats the purpose of using the Deep Web, doesn't it?
