Do you know the name of the one he's doing? For some reason, I thought he was doing Steelhead (which was last weekend). I was looking at the results....and the swim times were scary fast, there. Hope he has some similar luck. Oh...I also hope he's STOPPED giving it hell....and he's resting!:D
He said something about having a tooth pulled today and still running, dude is getting hard core. Next thing you know he will be a Greenhorn on a crab boat in Alaska.
Like I said....if you find out which tri he's running, let us know. It would be cool to follow his race. I think I read wrong....and Steelhead IS this coming weekend. Thanks.
Steve: I think you have to understand just how much respect the 1/2 dist. commands. It's gonna be a (for a well-trained triathlete in Ferg's shoes) a 5-1/2hr suffer-fest. Although I TOTALLY wish Ferg. all the luck in the world, he's admittedly going into this half-cocked. I hope he's resting!
Steelhead is this saturday GMMAT! Will be heading down on Friday to pick up my packet. Think I am ready as I can be. Have really lifted my training. I think the only problem I will have a tough time with will be the run but I will have plenty of time to complete it and finish so I am not worried about it. I will keep you posted. THink that you can track athletes through the ironman.com site. My bib number is 2193
I couldn't find your name on the list (probably because I just guessed it!). Good luck, man. I'll be checking in on you (online). I've got my 1st 10mi. run (done two 9's, an 8.3 and a couple 7's) scheduled Saturday. I feel for ya!....lol
Thanks buddy! They haven't updated the list in awhile and I didn't register till just a few weeks ago after they already made up that list.
GOOD luck Ferg, man I respect the heck out of you guys for doing the triathlon...grueling. And I thought I am doing better these days. I ran 17.5 minutes up and down hills last night and about crawled to my front door. LOL.
So would I, Brett. I avoid hills like the plague. But, you've been here. It's not easy to run without encountering them. Just got in ......6mi.. this AM....lol. 30mi. on the bike, tonight.
Jeff, I am just coming off a bout of Mono in May and June. Lost all of my conditioning but I did drop some weight. I am down from 227 pounds last spring to around 213 or so in the mornings. I have been walking with a 25 pound weight in my backpack for 45 minutes or so, doing a lot of high rep stuff like pushups and dumbell work, now just adding the running....running 300 yard sprints up hills to get my muscles used to the stretch and strain, and now onto the longer runs. I have been at it pretty hard for the past month. I would like to get down to 205 come December. I am a guy who gains and loses weight slowly. For me, losing 1-2 solid pounds of fat per month is good.
If I didn't eat like a horse, it'd be interesting to see where my weight was. As it is, I eat like a horse! I'm hovering at +/- 190#'s and have been for a while, now. Funny thing about being "in shape" is.....it's relative. Using fast-twitch muscles, my HR goes up pretty quickly. But, I can go longer at a steady pace pretty well (relative). What I've found in this is.....the human body is amazing. I have great days and "ok" days (performance-wise). And, I have bad days. The hope is to have more great days! Good luck with your weight loss. NOT yo-yoing is a good thing IMO. I lose and gain pretty quickly. THough, the losing part gets tougher as I get older.
