A couple of my smaller hunting areas have some clearings within the wooded areas that look like possible targets for trying some minimum tillage plots. Wondering if anyone had any success using no-plow products.

I've used some of the mixes before, but I usually had the ground worked up anyway. Never really did it truely as a throw and grow planting. You can get some growth, butit's not going to be very thick or lush. The deer might just prefer natural browse to poor growing plants. Especially in the woods, hard to get much growth without amending the soil and giving it some TLC.

Agree 100%. At minimum I'd spray kill the areas and consider dry raking dead stuff off. I'd never truly do a throw and grow as some of the no-plow mixes advertise...just don't see getting great germination per seed.

We try it this late thou. Removed all leaves and rake the area that was going to put it in throw out and raked again within a week had grow.
