Crawling up with a decoy, and crawling up real close, then putting the hurt on the birds.

I have never done it but a friend of mine tried it! He was working his way up to a Tom when all of a sudden another Tom came out of no where that he didn't see and it attacked the fan he was holding and it spurred him pretty good in the arm. He did wind up killing the bird but definitely got tore up!

If you are talking about tail fanning them in then yes dozens of times. We have had to stand up and throw it down to keep from being flogged before

Sounds like a excellent way to take some number 5 to the face. Not sure how often I would be doing that even on private ground.

Yeah definitely not something to take lightly. I only do it in wide open fields when the birds are out in the middle... You can see everything for 500 yards in any direction, pop up that fan and start crawling to him and he will come sprinting in to whoop you. It's exciting and effective, but not as fun as calling them to me so I haven't done it as much lately.
