Just wanted to see if there is any? I'm only a freshman in h.s. but I seem to be pretty proficient with a stick welder(using 6013 electrodes), mig welder, or torch welder. T- joints,V- joints and lap joints are easy, but I'm having problems with vertical welds.

Yes I have been welding professionally since 08. What seems to be your problem with your verticals?

When stick welding there will be a little portion of good bead, then it goes to practically nothing with a big glob every couple of centimeters! Could be that i was never taught to weld vertical.

Does it seem like the glob is rolled up like it is not melting in? Is 6013 all you use?

I usually run right around 95 amps on vertical up weld. an I will usually use a 3/32 7018 stick. Keep your electrode close to the metal, just above scraping the metal. An always keep it in an upward position around a 30 degree angle is what I usually run. Run a zig zag pattern pausing on your edges so it is sure to melt in correctly.
