The late season for waterfowl opened up for us here in WV on monday.

Monday i went by myself and shot 2 greenheads. Would have limited out if i could ut my head down on the gun :bash:

Tuesday me and my dad wacked 5. Should have limited out but i was shooting like crap again. However my new choc lab pup made 2 land retrieves. Was very happy.

Wednesday.. Me, my dad and a friend limited out on mallards by 7:30am. We probably seen over 120 ducks. Mack made 3 retrieves.

I've waterfowl hunted since i was 8 y/o. Trained 3 dogs with my father. Now training my own. Love every minute of it. Only mine is a pup. the other 2 are both almost 2 years old. Mine is just a horse. weighed him today and he is 51 lbs, he will be 5 months next week on the 26th.

That's my problem as well. Solo hunting from a kayak in freezing or sub-freezing temps with water involved doesn't sound appealing to me. I can't bring myself to do it.

    Nice looking greenheads there Dogfish!

I only do it if I'm real desperate to get out there, definitely makes you think about what your next move is. Thinking about heading down to MD this spring and getting into some snow geese. You guys get good numbers there in March-April right?

Don't rule out NY. I have seen hundreds of snow geese while deer hunting before!

We had lots of birds flying this morning. Seen some small birds in the air, probably teal. We got 7 birds today. 3 blacks and 4 mallards.. Not bad for the warm spell we had here that opened up all the little ponds, tomorrow should be better. Come on January!!

Nice! We are seeing THOUSANDS but only killing a few, to many educated birds by to many stupid NEW hunters to the area. Ive hunted the same river bend for 10 years and usually see about 3 boats all year put in where I do. The other day there were 15 trucks with 7 boats!!! WTF!!!

Same thing around here. Lots of people who think they know how to hunt running around skybusting and scaring all the birds.

Yeah we had a few awesome days, lots of birds working but wouldn't finish. It was public land so as expected there was some sky blasters out there. No clue on how many birds we saw, it was a lot. Overall, we had a blast! I'm ready for more...
