Hi I was just wondering if anyone on here trapped critters like me and if so where and how many they have caught this year!

I coon hunt and trap everything their is to trap in Northern Indiana. I have 81 raccoons and 38 muskrats so far this year. Just starting to get into the coyote calling and trapping. I tend to stay away from the skunks!! They are a little smelly!

    Thanks, Fox

What would I need to get into trapping? I'd like to trap coyote and raccoon in WI. Not for the money more to just manage the critter population.

Well there are all kinds of different things you could buy, but I use dog proof raccoon traps. Then I put the bait inside and have been doing great! For coyotes I don't really know other then some footholds and bait. Deerslayer15 says he already has seven yotes so he must know more than me!

I'm just getting into trapping this year. Have 13 coons in the past week and a half, caught 5 opossums and a skunk also. One if my buddies snares coyotes all fall and winter, and at last count he was at 113 coyotes. That just blows my mind

Wow 113 coyotes!! that does blow my mind!!

Finch, I have been hearing many different things. Some say they are way down and others are saying it's just average. So yes I would say somewhere between 20 to 30 dollars this year.

Any recommendations on a specific trap for a beginner? Since my property is almost an hour away from my house I would only be able to set out a trap for one night when we decide to go camping and then remove it when I leave. I wouldn't be able to drive out and check the traps on a daily basis.

I caught this guy last year. I did not have time to do any trapping this year. I still hope to get some predator calling in though.

I do a little, not a whole lot. I'm putting my DP traps back out Monday to take out all the coons that are hitting the corn I have out for the deer. I've caught 7 in limited time this year. I would like to do more, but just can't bring myself to stop deer hunting to trap.

I used to do a bit of it. Many moons ago.

I even maintained a Class A nuisance wildlife trapping/shooting permit in IL. Now that I'm out in Utah, I need different traps and different techniques. I hope to catch a bobcat and some UT 'yotes. I know nothing about trapping either critter. I did set five (LOL) traps a few days ago... but I think no sane 'yote or bobcat will be dumb enough to fall for my pathetic attempt. Hopefully, with a few (dozen) more sets I'll get to some semblance of what should pass for a 'yote or 'cat set. Heck, I couldn't even open the jar of bait when I made the first sets. :(

I would suggest the Dog proof traps, I use them the most and they work the best in my opinion.

i think here in WI you have to take a trapping class before you can get a license. I never remember to look for them until its trapping season, then I'm too late. I would love to try and trap some yotes. Don't have the first clue how.
