Any Sturgeon spearers out there?

    that is awesome! I was in Appleton on a business trip about 10 years ago and saw one of the lakes absolutely covered with people spearing sturgeon. It looked like a city! I have heard that the success ratio is not very high, but it does look like a good time to kill with family and friends. Good luck to you!

    Personally I could care less about spearing a hundred year old prehistoric fish. Doesn't do anything for me. To each their own. I just wish the ice was safer on bago this winter, kind of hard to get to the walleye territory I’d like to fish.

    Nope, not something I aspire to do. I'd rather hook up to a 3 pound brookie with the fly rod. And I'm definitely not killing him when I hook him. Here in NY we have a few sturgeon in local waters....but they're protected. It's illegal to take them, kill them or even to take from the water if you hook one.
