I am down looking at homes, for weeks I looked at realtor sites got a good idea what I was looking for and drove down and met my realtor with my list and she had hers so we set out and looked at six homes two of them listed with her company the rest others. What I quickly found out is how misrepresented the homes are as most are trashed some or all had items left, hardwood floors scratched from movers. Not one was move in ready and all needed new floors /paint and serous work. My problem is being three states away I don't have time to fix up a home while I am selling mine. I have until Friday here, not happy. Regrouping to look at new built tomorrow. Anything to add would be welcome from you guys..
There are a couple guys on here that should be able to chime in on this. My wife and I have started looking for a bigger home here in Central IL and we have seen the same thing you have. Its amazing how good the pictures on the sites are but when you see the actual house somtimes they aren't what they seem. Good luck to you.
I am a real estate broker & appraiser in Illinois. Puffing is the real estate term used to exaggerate the amenities of a property, however frustrating pictures and text can be it is legal for the real estate sales person to do this unless the practice goes completely beyond reality.
You have until Friday to find a house you want to buy... Not rent? Sheesh! I will be paying attention to this thread as I will be in the market for a house soon. Good luck.
I would rent for a year so you do not have to rush a purchase. Give you a better chance to find the community and house that you are comfortable with.
I couldn't agree with you more. I am moving cross country in a few months and will be doing this, regardless what I find for sale. I want to know the community and area better than online pictures or what people tell me. I want to actually live there before committing to a 20-30 year mortgage.
we looked at 11 houses while we were down last week and found one that met all are wishes, should know Tuesday on are offer.
