Spin-off on the other thread: I was never against hunters, I just always felt I'd rather shoot animals with a camera than a rifle. Then I got introduced to compound bows and something just clicked in me. I felt if I'm going to continue eating meat all my life than I need to man up and kill and clean some animal myself. There are no other hunters in my family so far and I've got a huge family that's all from Michigan. Go figure. They all can't believe how into bow hunting I am because it's really not my personality but I just love it now. Anybody else come into the light via Bow Hunting?
My wife got lured into bowhunting from the bow.when we first got together she loved to fish with me and always talked crap about me killing bambi lol her words exactly. But she loved to eat bambi burgers or backstrap and bambi jerky lol But she soon relized how much i love it and could never get me to stop. She would always pick up my mathews and try to draw it back 70 pounds lol she didnt move it 2 inches. And i could see she liked holding it and wanted to shoot it so i went out one night bought her the barnett vortex and some arrows and a sight whisker biscuit and release. As soon as she drew it back and fired that first arrow not even hitting the mark she was talking crap again saying this time shes gona kill a bigger deer than me lol now she loves to hunt and shoot. The bow got her . Thats what i tell her but its awesome she has the same passion for it as me and didnt even know it till the bow got her lol now shes got a mathews jewel and loves it . Shes now been hunting for 3 years this will be her 4th year.
That's so cool. I bought my wife a recurve but their just not that much to learn on. IMO. So I may just buy a compound bow for her set up at an enjoyable weight so she can really shoot it. I think if she can look through a site and actually hit the target she would really enjoy it. Thanks for the idea and inspiration.
I pulled a gun hunter into our brotherhood last fall. He made fun of me thinking my game tool was weak or less than that of a .300 WinMag. Once he made his first bow shot he was hooked. He borrowed an old Martin Bengal I have and then he purchased a Hoyt Charger. On his first hunt he missed his first deer. A doe but I can honestly say I created a MONSTER...That guy, a new dad, GA Tech PHD, gave in to his primitive side and he said he will never pick up another gun to hunt. He has a whole new perspective and respect for our passion. I had so many bow hunters help me get started and it felt great to give it back.
Yeah that's what I did at first I got the Barnett vortex it's like 15 to 45 pounds I think it was I had it set at 20 at first for her it was like 140 bucks. But she got hooked by it and loves it.
