I didn't realize that we were putting our deployments/time over seas on here... I'll just forgo my little vacation trips for now however, pictures are worth more than words Here are a couple shots from one of my adventures...
happened to notice the 4th ID patch. I used to be with them in the past. Went through some training and changed units after a while.
Just thought I'd represent. Not everyone in blue mans a chair for a living. I did time at Pope, so I know how you ground pounders think of us. Sent from my SPH-M920 using Tapatalk 2
We all talk **** to one another, thats how we do but when it comes down to it we love, Air Force JTAC, Jets, Army Gun Bunnies, All of the above its part of the game.
Yup. I work with all different branches of the military on a daily basis and even foreign militaries pretty often. We're all fighting for the same thing, doesn't matter the color of our uniform
I've had the pleasure of fixing up a plane then jumping on to watch you guys jump off. Crazy, being as I just fixed it back into "perfectly good airplane" status. Marines during multiple exercises and the tsunami relief. Navy, I'm a squid brat and have done exercises with. Coast guard, actually got to hot refuel a SAR C-130 for a real world. Over the gulf and had nowhere to go for gas. Worked with JASDAF, and lastly Army again, supporting you guys in Centam and the sand box. You guys once again doing a job I never wanted to. I've had beers with all my sister branches and wouldn't trade the memories and experiences for anything. Hooah fellas. Much respect to all fellow service members. Past and present. I think most here know I served 2 years as a bullet shooter in Vietnam... good times and very bad times... that's the way war is always. I served 8 years and decided it was someone elses turn. It is a strange life really. For those in combat... there is no experience like it any where in life. Once you've been there for a period of time... it will never leave you, now will the people you were with. They become family... that's how it is. Black, white, Spanish... I don't care who you are...you become family. Here's a clip from another thread that explains who we feel towards each other 43 years later. I have not seen my one platoon leader since 1969... but he's coming to see me and be with my for a few days because my old boss ask him to. He hadn't seen the General until last year, 42 years before.
I don't know how so many of you stayed in so long. I am sick of the bull**** and the terrible stupid bosses I have to put up with, I am out at the end of my contract. Disgruntled, yes, but for good reasons = ) some of these guys just can't and refuse to listen to reason. Though I haven't been in combat like the above guy, but there is still the shared bond among people in the military. When I was on leave and found out another guy had been in the military, we instantly connected. Its really strange how that works. We also agreed that everyone should try it because its an experience good or bad. Then I said, "Its not like it'll kill you" we looked at eachother and laughed.
Chopayne, why not re-class and try something new? The military just like any other line of work has its stupid people and dumb s.h.i.t., but for the most part it's easy work and a steady paycheck. I joined the Army in 2000 with the full intention of doing four years and getting out due to some stupid people and situations. I like any good Soldier did my job well and did what I was told, when I got promoted to Sergeant in 2002 two and a half years after coming in I decided that I would stay in and make it my personal goal to advance above those stupid people and keep my Soldiers out of dumb situations to the best of my ability. With that goal I made for myself I was promoted to Staff Sergeant just over five years and Sergeant First Class in less than ten years... and now I'm filling a First Sergeant position. If you are dead set on getting out then I wish you the best of luck, but please way all your options and calculate what it would take for you/your family to survive in the civilian world. It's ugly in the military sometimes but if you can suck it up and continue to drive on it pays off in the end, and it's even uglier in the civilian world not to sure if you follow the news at all. Just my two cents take it how you will brother. P.S. I'm currently at 13 years and will stay in until the Army says they don't need my services any longer... not for me but for the betterment of my country and the Soldiers that work for/with me. Check out this website as it can give you a little idea of what kind of job you would need to survive, bear in mind this does not take into consideration our free medical and dental insurance. http://militarypay.defense.gov/pay/calc/index.html
Agreed. Take the good, the bad, and the HORRIBLE and yourself and make a better Leader. But do what you will man.
Agreed, I have debated getting out a few times, and yet i've already reenlisted once and have another one coming up soon. Just gotta make the best of it.
Yea sorry, didnt mean to rage or vent so much. Was just pretty pissed. Definitely been alot of good, bad and ****ty times. Those of you who go 20, props to you, im sure as hell not going to. Can't say that I regret my times though.
