I have been thinking about the idea of buying a small night vision monocular that I can us to get to and from my stand once it is too dark to see. I thought that it would be better than walking around with my flashlight in the pitch black. Does anyone us one? If so could you recommend one?

    Thanks

Interesting idea. I'm curious as to how that would work out. If you do try it, keep us posted.

Save your money & just use a red light. It doesn't spook the animals. (I hear green doesn't eiter, but red I have used first hand)

Agreed. I have used both red and green and they work great.

I believe deer spoke from red too. My IR cuddeback camera's have shown me that with their little red lights going off.

Interesting idea.. I use a green led light that clips onto my hat. Keep us posted if you give it a go.

I'm more curious to hear how your conversation with the conservation agent goes...

"Honest, officer... I was just using the night vision goggles to get to and from my stand!"

    Riiiiight, son"

I'm not pushing ethics talk on anyone but I think this is getting close to the line of "fair chase" (for me)

But if it works AND it is legal. Have at it.

I have looked into the idea of using either a green or red light but I have read that it sometimes will spook the animals as well. With a night vision set up you can run it great if you have a small amount of light and if that is not enough you can use the IR. It is still just a thought so far. I would only take it with me to go bow hunting becasue you could talk your way out of a situation if one ever where to come up. There is no way to mount it to the bow and you can not use a head rig becasue it stick out to far. If I decide to give it a try I will be sure to post about it. Now I have even more thinking about to do! :D

Don't get caught in the woods after or before dark with night vision and a gun or bow I can tell you that much. Besides night vision throws your depth perception off so plan on alot of tripping unless you have experience with them. I guess my question is...why do you need a light or night vision at all? I don't use a light at all. I will carry a red lens light just in case I need it. You would be surprised at how much night vision you have if you let your eyes adjust.
