No oilies here in OK... ;) Actually I have plenty of friends that work in the patch and/or for energy companies in various capacities. Sure they are hiring; there is always plenty of turnover of employees in the field cause it's hard work. I have friends that never graduated high school that make $250K/year. If I had done it years ago I could be retiring now instead of workin for the man...

I sometimes work in the oilfield as a contractor/consultant. Not so much anymore with my new company, but with my old company, I was in the field a lot. Spent a lot of time in southwest Texas my final year.

I hate the oilfield FWIW. But I tell any single guy that is looking for work to drive up to North Dakota.

Yes ND is booming in a major way! Can make a killing there. Im not married but not single so have no interest in heading there. Honestly though Hook my dream job would be well tender in Louisiana! Get to spend my days on a boat in the swamp going from well to well...maybe skipping a jig under the well dock before I climb on lol. Trying to get a well tending job here for experience then start looking there.

I don't work in the patch, but I manufacture Oil & Gas Pumping units (pumpjacks).

Awesome! I used to haul mud and bentonite off pipeline drilling sites

    Counts to me!
