Because the **** is about to hit the fan Pat Forde ✔ @YahooForde Follow Yahoo Sports sources: investigation into academic fraud underway at Notre Dame, football players (as well as regular students) part of probe
Kinda funny I'm on a ND page on FB and people are freaking out. I was kinds skeptical as to what kind of season was gonna have anyway. But everybody was all happy Golson was back. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I think if they would really dig into several of the traditional power schools they would find some wrong doing. But schools are also learning and getting better at covering their tracks. Just look at UNC
ND president says they will vacate any wins these players were involved in. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
I like any team that is playing Notre Dame. And I also think every D1 program in almost all NCAA sports has some form of academic cheating going on.
I agree that most major college schools with big time programs have some degree of "enhancements" for the quote, unquote student athlete. What motivates and reinforces the behavior is money and pride. The term student athlete is a joke for big time football and basketball. I enjoy these sports as much as anyone and I fully realize that I am part of the problem. You don't pay coaches the multi-millions that they get for losing 6-7 games a year in football. To get a winning program you need talent, to get talent you must make compromises. A vicious cycle that tests the moral fiber of all involved.
Not that it changes anything, but the only thing I will say is at least ND approached the NCAA and told them they were doing their own investigation about what happened instead of trying to cover it up and hope to not get caught. Also it wasn't just the football players, there were other students involved.
If there is money involved... the temptation for cheating exists. I am always blown away by the ease at which people cheat and lie EVERYWHERE and the ease with which they rationalize doing so. Fans demanding their favorite team win are as much to blame as the schools. Here at Auburn... Nick Marshall, dismissed from Georgia... comes to Auburn, then gets caught with Pot... he'll likely miss the first half of a game where Auburn is a prohibitive favorite... big whoop! If he was a less prominent player he would be kicked off the team but Malzahn knows if he stood on integrity and had a bad season... fans would be breathing down his neck... as would the school. There's just too much emphasis put on winning at the expense of character building .
Right...students cheating on their own doesn't mean the program is dirty. And I honestly can't stand ND
