I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in getting together in 2013 on a large tract of public land in say Kentucky or Ohio. It could also be in VA, WV, or wherever anyone else thinks we could get on to some decent deer. We could hunt in pairs or solo, spreading out over the property in attempts to quickly determine where the deer are located. It could be a lot of fun, pouring over maps and making plans leading up to the hunt.

I was looking at the 2013 calendar and it looks like Saturday October 26th to Wednesday October 30th would be a great time to hit the woods. That would allow some travel time for folks as we could hunt the afternoon of the 26th until sundown on the 30th. 4 1/2 days of solid hunting at a pretty good time to be in the woods. That would also allow people to get home for Halloween with their families or they could stay and hunt the remainder of the week. Another advantage to that week would be people could return to their home states and still hunt the first week of November if they are taking a couple weeks off from work for hunting.

Just a thought. I am trying to branch out a bit in my hunting and make it fun.

That would be cool! Not sure that I could make it and depending out non-resident tags not sure that I could afford it next year due to some expenses I know I will have but would try to make it depending on location!

It is something I would defiantly consider as well. Its hard for me to schedule something that far in advance, but this sounds like something I would love to take part in.

I would definitely be down for that. The 4.5 days would be good. But I'm assuming if we're hunting out of state we would just go with a non resident 3 day license and use the first 1.5 days to scout and what not

I do not know of any states that sell a 3 day license. Is there any states that do? Sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

A lot of states sell 3 day non resident licenses. I know MD does. Will look online today and see what other states do that aren't lottery drawn tags.

I know VA does, it saves you about $50. A non-res license is $111 while a 3 day non-res license is $60. In addition to that a person would need the big game license which is ($86) and an archery or x-bow license ($31). So either $228 or $177. This doesn't include any National Forest or State Park Permits and I think there is some kind of Migratory Bird fee added as well, not %100.

NC offers a six day license and the costs varies depending on your home state. Approx. $200 for six days give or take a few dollars.

I also would love this. My only problem is not being able to travel too far. Maybe OH, KY, WV, TN, PA, or VA depends on the seasons and license costs.

Tom, Georgia also sells a 3 day.

Brett, I'd love to do something like this, if my school schedule allows.

That is pretty sweet that some states sell a 3 day license. None of the states around here do that. This is a really good idea and after camping with some of the members at the GTG I know it would be a good time.
